Mumbai resident spent Rs 9.1 crore on UK websites using SBI card with Rs 13,000 limit: CBI

NEW DELHI: A Mumbai-resident allegedly spent USD 1. 41 million (Rs 9.1 crore) on British e-commerce websites using a foreign travel card issued by the State Bank of India with a meagre spending limit of USD 200 (Rs 13,000) prompting the CBI to register an FIR today, officials said.

The SBI had filed a complaint with the CBI in this regard alleging that its NRI Seawoods branch in Navi Mumbai had issued a Foreign Travel Cards for which the prepaid application is provided by Yalamanchili Software Exports Ltd and database support resources are provided by MPhasis, they said.

"On February 28, 2017, the Chief Operating Officer of Yalamanchili Software Exports Ltd reported the incident to the bank," the complaint said.

It came to the notice that balance in prepaid card system has been altered fraudulently for authorisation of three foreign travel cards belonging to a single individual, it said.

"The authorisations have mainly happened over e-commerce web sites of four merchants and involve around 374 transactions amounting to USD 1.41 million. These transactions have happened over a period of three months-- from November 8th, 2016 to February 12, 2017," it said.

The bank alleged that card was issued by NRI Seawoods branch on November 7, 2016 on which two more cards were issued to the card holder.

"The cards were issued to one Sandeep Kumar Raghu Poojary for USD 200. Thereafter there was no load or reload on the cards. Transactions took place in the cards from November 8, 2016 on four merchant sites as e-commerce transactions- Neteller. com, entropay, swiftvoucher and SKR Shrill. com," it said.

The bank alleged that all merchant transactions came via Visa with Merchant country code as Great Britain with the transaction and billing currency as USD.

It is suspected that while transactions happened on the prepaid card system, the balance appears to have been altered manually via the Oracle Database access and post-authorisation the settlement transaction and authorisation have been deleted from the prepaid card system including the general ledger entry and so the balance sheet generated on the prepaid card system did not get any difference, the bank has alleged.

The CBI has booked Poojary and unidentified persons under charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and violation of the Information Technology Act.

Tweet below has an old, 1-minute video clip of a young-ish Modi's interview to some journo. Explains the rationale for what is happening now.

Hmm, Vibhishana was a moral guy and asked Ravan to return Sita to Shri Ram. Anyway, will be really hoping once BJP gets majority in RS, many if indic issues related bills will be passed or repealed such as RTE.

Per one of the tweets in the link posted by HS ji. I am translating from Hindi.

For 1 RS MP seat 37 votes are needed.
SP has 47. So after Jaya B's election, there are 10 left.
Mayawati has 19. So add the 10 to get 29.
1 RLD
7 Cong
For a total of 37 (10 + 19 + 1 + 7)
BJP has 28 extras
If there is 1 short of 37 then the 2nd priority vote goes to 324 party BJP.

----
My understanding of the above: With one vote BJP has voided 36 votes and got a RS seat. I think that it is a good call!

---------------
In other news BJP has fielded 11 candidates for the RS vote.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya told mediapersons: “Jiski tension barhti ho barhe, hum relaxed hain.”

Vibhishana may have been moral but his morality was of no value to Ram. His values was in divulging crucial secrets to Ram to defeat Ravana. NA may be an asshole but he will know lot of skeletons of SP clan and that will be used as leverage. There in lies his value.

PS: Vibhishana married Mandodari whom he referred to Matri-tulya prior to defection.

An out going chief never usually takes a decision during the transition period. Even if he did, why did he sign the order while leaving and why not during his intolerance pontification days.

Trilobite please answer to this from tanaji
Ah but the fact is that this notice was issued becasue of the Bank of Bangladesh fraud that swindled it out of $81M. The fraud was effected using malware scripts that stole credentials. If you read the notice it specifically mentions this fact. The auditing is required to check against this type of attack. Note that this is very different than the Nirav modi where an internal player subverted the system.

But you knew this and are deliberately trying to muddy the waters didnt you?

With a banking system this poorly set up and run, I'm *shocked* that UPA era scams were as 'small' as they were. They could literally have burned the place to the ground and no one would be any the wiser.

BJP gave the seats to turncoats that was never there. So NA gets the 9th seat, BJP was only going to get 8, The 9th is extra if BJP can pull it off.

Indian financial system is rotten to core. There is so much money pumped into the system in last 20 years when the maturity of the system itself along with security apparatus is questionable. With corrupt regulators and developers who can create delete records in database at will, what can be done? And how much even NDA can correct?

If the system is free to loot then imagine how many foreign entities (state and non state) must be looting us in more innovative ways which we are not even stumbled upon yet.

For a while I am getting convinced that these modi and mallyas are foreign instruments to siphon out money from india.

As per RBI guidelines every keystroke on production system to be recorded and every update in critical systems to be approved only by IT director/CTO. Private banks have these systems implemented, not sure about national banks.

Finally, modi sarkar decides to act (sort of, will await actual ground action). Sanitizing univs like JNU or JU clean of commie parasites is imperative. Do it as unapologetically as The_Yogi would. Let the fiberals howl and fume and outrage and threaten, they anyways will. Yawn.

JNU mulls removing department heads opposing compulsory attendance (IE)
Deans and chairpersons of Centres at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), who have opposed the university administration’s decision to implement compulsory attendance, could face action including removal from their posts, it is learnt. JNU’s Executive Council (EC) Tuesday decided to set up an inquiry committee against department heads who have written to the administration against compulsory attendance, sources said.

“Chairpersons and Deans are supposed to be part of the administrative structure. Teachers and students have every right to democratically protest any issue but if Chairpersons and Deans begin to oppose in writing, it goes against the grain of administration. Therefore, it was decided in the EC that the best way was to institute an inquiry committee to find out why such writings are coming from a handful of Chairpersons and Deans so that steps can be taken,” a senior administration official told The Indian Express.

Sources said the number of Deans and Chairpersons who have opposed the move was “not more than seven”. JNU comprises 13 Deans and 38 Chairpersons, along with five Chairpersons of Special Centres. The decision to introduce minimum attendance of 75 per cent in JNU has been a point of contention since it was announced in December last year. Protesting the decision, student and teacher unions have been holding open-air classes since mid-February.
Any particular trigger for this strong action on JNU's part? Well, consider what happened in JNU y'day:
Anshul Saxena Verified account @AskAnshul 23m23 minutes ago

JNU students attacked Dean. They shouted slogans, latched the door & blocked it with sofa. When the dean tried to go out for lunch, they pushed, used abusive language and manhandled him. Security guards later rescued the dean. Such Hooliganism is a routine in JNU. Too much Azaadi

How easy it is manipulate EVM-VVPAT !!!

Pls see any video on how BU = ballot unit, CU = control unit, PU = Print unit i.e. VVPAT unit are connected

BU is connected to PU thru cable hardwired to BU
PU is connected to CU thru a cable, open at both ends

CU has memory and CPU where candidate's vote-count is stored.

So voter presses candidate# N on BU and BU transmits N to PU which prints the candidate name etc and then PU transmits N to CU
.
One can change honest cables with tempered cables and change votes in CU in a way voter will NOT notice at all !!

One can put a remote signal accepting circuit in tempered cable and send the preferred candidate# to that circuit anytime after candidate number is issued and before polling.
.
The circuit in the cable connecting PU and CU will work as follow
.
(a) for first 100 votes, send candidate number honestly to CU so mock polls will go fine
(b) after 100 votes, give every 3rd vote to candidate P i.e. preferred candidate

So by changing cable between PU and CU, and putting a circuit in cable which can change votes, one can change votes in CU

FYI, ECI has rejected hackers' proposal that they should be allwoed to change cables during so called "challenge" !!!

Cable changing is TRIVIAL

Manual counting is done in ONLY 1 out of about 250 EVMs in Assembly. How is that booth chosen? The booth numbers are printed on pieces of paper of size postcard. And Then it is folded 4 times And slips are shaken in a bucket and then one slip is selected by RO

So only challenge is --- ensure that some EVMs are NOT rigged and only one of that EVM is selected for manual counting. How? Not difficult and OST

SOLUTION? Pls tweet "@PmoIndia #CancelEVM #BringPaperBallotBack"

I think I'll trust the election commission of India.

Folks not to distract away from the ongoing UP Polls. I wanted to actually see what kind of effect demonetization as well as digital payments really have on low income populations such as Dharavi. To this end we had one of our video journalists travel to Dharavi and ask a bunch of local business owners regarding how transactions are carried out on a daily basis.
Unfortunately really couldn't find anyone using digital payments whatsoever.

One of the guys even stated that demonetization and Modi have ruined his business. Not exactly what I hoped to get as a soundbyte. Now I don't doubt that Dharavi has a large muslim and also illegal settler population that really wouldn't be appreciate of Modi Schemes for whatever reason including access to these schemes.

In any case I think we do have a pretty good video to get a feel of what life is really like in Dharavi and how times are changing pretty quick.

Please see the video and let me know any feedback. Likes and subscribes are also appreciated.

UP bye-elections; advantage "seculars"
UP and Bihar bypoll results | SP leads in Gorakhpur, Phulpur
MehtaRahulC wrote:One can change honest cables with tempered cables and change votes in CU in a way voter will NOT notice at all !!
Can you explain to us how this is possible? In an election booth, along with a presiding officer there would be the polling officers, and polling agents (from all parties). To change a cable the polling has to be stopped, even if it is for 5 minutes. The polling agents and people waiting to poll can naturally raise an alarm.
One can put a remote signal accepting circuit in tempered cable and send the preferred candidate# to that circuit anytime after candidate number is issued and before polling.
How is this remote signal getting transmitted, and how would the EVM receive the signal? The EC had actually asked all political parties to hack an EVM which is actually used in the elections. AAP-tards etc. came up with their own electronic device for polling and said THAT device can be hacked. The EVM's circuitry is not a state secret, AFAIK. Would you be able to provide where exactly this remote signal detection unit would be present in the circuit?

From what I have been seeing in my suburb (which is on the farthest end of the city) over the last 4-5 months. People who wanted cash, have now started demanding cash. They just say that PayTM etc. does not work and/or the money is not getting passed back to them (from PayTM account) on time. I don't see any initiative from folks like PayTM to increase the usage of their own product, but perhaps they expect GoI to do their advertisement campaign.

A few bigger establishments (like Super Markets, and Medical shops) have become big time acceptors of credit/debit cards etc. Religion (of the owners) etc. do not matter here. Medical shops and smaller shops which have credit card machines, generally allow card payment only if the sale value exceeds Rs. 100/-. Shady operators like car accessories stores, small workshops etc. generally allow credit cards with a bit of coercion from the customer.

A suspicious trend I see in my area is that, given every week end all the ATMs in the area is out of cash. Even the ATMs which generally dole out only Rs.2000 notes. This has been the story for the last 3-4 months, and I now carry some cash every Friday from the ATM in our office complex. Election is around the corner, and I get a feeling that certain groups have started pulling in all available cash. Wine shops, are openly charging 10% extra of the sale value when buying liquor using a credit/debit card. The liquor business again is one area which is time and again used by politicians when they want quick money.

OMG !!! You mean , I am suggesting that the malafide person should walk inside booth after voting has started, stop polling and change cables in front of all ? No. Thats NOT what I suggested. What I suggested is to replace the box of cable in warehouse or in truck with tempered cables months and years before election is announced.
One can put a remote signal accepting circuit in tempered cable and send the preferred candidate# to that circuit anytime after candidate number is issued and before polling.

I had sent a proposal to ECI thru a recognized party, asking if ECI would allow us to replace cable. ECI told that party that they will NOT allow us to replace to even touch any part of EVM except BU buttons !!!

The remote receiving circuit I am suggesting is to be put in the new tempered CABLE between printer=PU and CU. Say voter presses N on BU. Then BU will send N to PU and then PU sends N to CU over the cable. The tempered cable changes every fifth N to P , where P is preferred candidate#. And this is done after first 100 votes.

Pls see 8 minute video made in year 2011 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlCOj1dElDY which shows how EVMs can be rigged using changing display. I am suggesting a similar method which is simpler -- change cable between PU and CU.

Modiji's Demo and SoMoKe's GST have ruined lakhs of small businesses/industries and crores of people who depend on them. And let eWayBill System come. And you will hear real music. Demo, GST, eWayBill etc benefit ONLY large companies at the cost of small business and industries. That wss the goal of SoMoKe in pushing GST

=====

Some company named twitteraudit , which may have NOTHING to do with twitter says that over 60% of followers of Sri Modiji are fake twitter ids. And numbers of Trump, ArKe, RaGa are similar !!

https://www.outlookindia.com/website/st ... ake/309459

Obviously, RSS IT-cell-workers will never create fake ids and follow Modiji. . Nor will Modiji ever pay any company to give fake followers !! I think congress must have created fake IDs and follow Modiji to ruin Modiji's reputation.

My relative has small shop in an area which has cut throat competition. His annual turnover is Rs 1.5 crore , but income per year after rents, interests, salaries, electricity , bribes he has to pay, and all other costs and employee salary is only Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 8 lakhs per per year only. And if starts asking for 18% GST, he will not survive one week. So he needs to ensure that revenue on books is below Rs 20 lakhs. So he takes CASH ONLY. He used to take PayTM during Demo but stopped within week when he saw that revenue surge can create serious income tax problem.

I went to get a grill made from a welder, he had previously taken cheque from me so that I can expense it as business (and it was my office). This time, I needed one more grill for home. He told me that now he takes cash ONLY and no cheque. I didnt want to show the grill as expense anyway, because it was my home and not office. And so I paid cash. And he gave no receipt. He has stopped all cheque work now.

So small businesses are getting out of cheque mode and going towards all cash --- thanks to GST

Dharavi is Muslim hubs and ruled by Muslim goons. Don't read too much into this. Even if sakshaat Allah came down and asked them to support BJP, they will ziba him too.

These Muslim gangs will not allow them to have digital payments even if they themselves wanted to, since that would suck the cash out of the 'slum economy'.

I kind of partially agree on the point of e-way bill here. Small businessmen are not able to handle this purely because of not being IT savvy like the rest of us. But it is a slight nuisance that solves a bigger problem of tax evasion.

As far as GST is concerned, there were issues but after many well thought changes, I think GST is easier than any other previous tax regime. People will take time but eventually, its not that much of an issue. You're just inflating it 100x, RM ji.
