I hope the "other" Rahul of the Gujarat election (our very own Mehtaji) managed to get his deposit back.

The Media is trying this Modi and BJP different, they are trying to create a Hemu Vs Akbar trap. We should not fall for it.

The good outcome is that central government will now go full on and gloves shall come off in handling anyone with Anti-India or divisive divide and rule agenda!

At this juncture, let us not forget the oncoming storm -the CPI(M). The "national" party has managed to win one seat in Himachal Pradesh. I am sure this is just the beginning for a communist revolution.
independent and CPM has won a seat each .

OK, the only region Congress made gains was in Saurashtra where it gained 15 seats. So is it caste or lack of progress? We know that Saurashtra is the most backward region of backward. Did not Narmada project not make a difference? How to make gains in Saurashtra?

Are patels more in number in Saurashtra?

Congress is winning 55% of rural seats to BJPs 45%. I think there is no way to satisfy rural voters except industrialize and urbanize them.
Urban Seats: 85% BJP, 15% Congress.

Most of these seats are in Saurasthra which has faced difficulties of heavy flooding this year, a black swan event and shot in the arm of the INC, the Narmada canal benefit will come for the first time year to these regions. This will change the voting percentage and being relatively poor these voters are easier to buy.

G.Kishan Reddy,MLA.‏Verified account
@kishanreddybjp

Interesting. All Congress big wigs loose:
(1) Siddharth Patel-Losing
(2) Arjun Modhwadia-Lost
(3) Shaktisinh Gohil-Lost
(4) Tushar Chaudhary-Lost
(5) Bharat Solanki-Didnt contest.
Now Congress has to depend on outsourced leader in #Gujarat Vidhansabha.

having stayed in Gujarat for years I am quite worried for
-Guj is a BJP bastion and cong making inroads this way portends bad for rest of India
-Patels for sure got split and a large faction voted for congress (KHAM comeback)
-Saurashtra does have a large patel faction where congress gained
-Youth in Guj who are in fresh voting age have not seen misrule of cong as BJP is there since 22 years
-Caste is a tool which can still be used effectively to rip apart Hindutva
-Indications are that Muslims voted for cong en bloc
-There is anger amongst hardliners of Hindutva re Modi not acting upon RTE, minority subsidy etc.
-Saurasthra where Modi brought water had voted for congress
-game has changed or is changing youth wants jobs/my rights more than development/gdp jhunjhuna ..

btw at this moment
BJP 99: Cong 80

poor implementation of GST costed dearly and notebandi as well..!!
If Amit Shah had not toured Guj extensively around Diwali and fixed GST rates etc this was a gone game.
my own friends based in India who have small businesses are suffering miserably after demo and GST as companies they supply oart purja for are not able to pay..!

They can't. Because then that means tampering could have happened in the EVMs used in the constituencies one by them . So they will not bring that issue up now.

ECI updates are generally more reliable, as their updates are after completing every paper work and official reviews etc. The media generally go with much more unverified reports. But at the end of it, generally there are no major changes between ECI web site and the media.

Haven't the youth witnessed the misrule and looting of Con systems for during the 10 years of UPA role? This may not be a major reason.

The above are very valid reasons.
Congress tasted the blood by it's very old formula i.e one majority caste + it's traditional vote bank of ( Muslims + Xians + Dalits). Will it work at Pan India level? especially where other parties claim the same vote banks on their own like in UP?

The Unusual floods in Saurashtra region this year is also anther reason for the INC wave there. Narmada water will have its affect only next summer.
