This election is the closest the Congis will ever get to even smelling a whiff of "victory" (which nowadays for the Congis means "not being entirely thrashed") in GJ.

Even if we assume that some voters are annoyed this time by demonetization, GST, and rough transition of CM from NaMo to other folks, such occurrences will never again arrive to give any kind of hope to Congis.

The media reports I have read on "disaffected BJP voters" and "poorly attended rallies" seem to have been massaged to try and manufacture a "fake hawa" for Congis. A closer look at the reports shows the reporter took special pains to find some such voters and then torture their words to come up with an interpretation.

Sounds to me that the khangress is fighting two battles. One within for hoisting raga to president, and the other the actual battle with bjp. Even the first battle is not so easy with plenty of dissent and defections, and internal dissatisfaction with raga. This entire exercise is probably to at least cross that first hurdle. They need some forward momentum to at least keep the pidis from starting to bite if they hoist him to presidency; otherwise, to fight 2019 with a queen who never seems to campaign while the prince who is not even president of his party will be awkward. Of-course, they could have a competent back room guy become president, but khangress is a family proprietorship apparently :rotfl:

Heartwarming, must-read Swarajya piece today, folks. A dharma samsad was organized after a 32-year gap in KA at Udipi. Attended by mutts and seers nationwide and importantly cutting across sectarian lines from within KA itself (Lingayat and Vokkligas both), the samsad's common-sensical resolutions seem political almost, in KA's toxic political air.

A Dharma Sansad In Udupi, A Worried Chief Minister In Bengaluru (swarajya)
The Dharma Sansad was held in Udupi after a gap of 32 years and the efforts to organise it were led by the Dharmadhikari of Srikshetra Dharmasthala, D Veerendra Heggade, who was also the president of the Dharma Sansad. This was quite appropriate as the K Siddaramaiah government in 2015 had made a concerted effort to take over the Dharmasthala Sri Manjunatheshwara Swamy Temple.

The sansad was inaugurated by the junior seer of Tumkur Siddaganga Mutt and the seer of Balehonnur Jagadguru Rambhapuri Veerasimhasana Mahasamasthna Peeta. Both these seers are important figures, who are opposing the demand for a seperate Lingayat religion which is being orchestrated by the current Congress government in Karnataka.

Along with Lingayat seers, Shri Nirmalanandanatha Swami of the powerful Vokkaliga Adichunchanagiri Mutt played an important role in the sansad. Given the Siddaramaiah government’s disproportionate funding of churches which increased by over 91 per cent in the first three years of his term, as well as its support for the healing crusades by Western missionaries, the presence of this mutt at the sansad, which has historically opposed conversions, was significant.
Maybe, just maybe KA CM Siddhu's brazen mainority pandering will come with a cost next year. I congratulate KA yindoos for keeping survival instinct intact. Their KL compatriots could learn something from this, maybe....

This excerpt here had moi figuratively weeping tears of joy - how often do ya see your exact thinking articulated perfectly by folks who matter?
The Decisions Taken By The Sansad

In front of a massive crowd of 2.5 lakh Hindus, Vishvesha Tirtha Swami announced the decisions taken by the Dharma Sansad in the Hindu Samajotsava held at its conclusion.

The first major decision taken by the sansad was to completely eradicate untouchability. This, in his opinion, is a necessity for building harmony in the Hindu society.

The second major decision was to demand that Hindus should get the same rights as minorities under the current legal framework. In his words: “The rights given to minorities (by the republic) should be given to the majority, ie Hindus. There should be absolutely no discrimination on the basis of religion”. This announcement had already been made on the second day and had created a backlash. {But of course. Trust the organized mainorities to smell a threat to their cozy status quo arrangement a mile away}

The third major decision was to demand that Hindu temples and religious institutions should have the same rights and privileges as churches, mosques and other religious institutions. There should be no inequality in granting these rights and privileges on the basis of religion.
The construction of a bhavya Ram Mandir in Ayodhya needs to begin within one year.
Like I said, tears of Joy only..... Oh, read it all. Only.

So the reason why missionaries were meeting Modi's wife now becomes clear. They were trying to take her into their influence to use her as political tool against BJP. The nexus between Congress and missionaries is deep.
Congress tried to rope in Modi’s wife Jashodaben to contest Gujarat elections, claims report

The campaign for the Gujarat assembly elections is heating up and newer controversies are arising by the day.

Just today Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar decided to sink to a new low by hurling elitist slurs bordering on casteist slur against PM Modi by calling him a “neech”. This was seen as Aiyar upsetting Congress’ carefully crafted caste strategy. Only a few days back, he had created another headache for the Congress by making a supposed comparison between the Congress dynasty and the Mughals.

Now it seems that the Congress might be accused of trying to employ below the belt tactics, if this Times of India report is to be believed.

The report quotes Jashodaben’s sister-in-law, who claimed that the Congress party had contacted the family to try and convince Jashodaben to contest the Gujarat elections, but she refused. Had they been successful, it could have created a ripple effect in the state’s political circles and a section of the media too would have wasted no time in building a, “Big blow to Modi” narrative.

The same report says that Jashodaben has projected that BJP would win more than 130 seats in the upcoming assembly elections.

Possibly one of the reasons why Jashodaben declined Congress’ offer might be because she has been a silent supporter of PM Modi. As per media reports, only today Jashodaben lent support to the Beti-Bachao Beti-Padhao campaign of PM Modi at an event in Uttar Pradesh, where “Modi Zindabad” slogans were also raised. This Beti Bachao slogan has been one of the flagship taglines which have been promoted by PM Modi.

Such an effort by the Congress to rope in Jashodaben might cement the assertion that, the Congress has tried to use every trick in the book to somehow try and taste success in Gujarat.

This has included sending their Vice President Rahul Gandhi on a temple hopping spree to possibly try and woo the Hindus. This suffered a blow when social media erupted with reports of Rahul Gandhi’s appeared in the ‘non-Hindu’ register before taking the darshan of the famous Somnath Temple, after which Rahul Gandhi was a “Janeu dhaari Hindu” by the Congress party.

The first one becomes easier if the second battle is won. If Congress wins in Gujrath, the entire victory would be tagged to Ra.Ga's brilliance, and off course that would lead to him becoming the party President till cows come home.

I am quite confident BJP will win with a comfortable majority.

1. NaMo is a son of the soil and RaGa is an outsider. No matter how much anti-incumbency feeling there is, this trumps it in the eyes of the mango man. Regardless of the candidate on the ballot, they know they are essentially voting for NaMo/RaGa.

2. NaMo really is the architect of modern Gujarat and people know this too. Yes, things have slipped from the time he was in power himself, but they are much better than they used to be in the late '90s.

3. RaGa and company have been shooting themselves in the foot all this while, his temple-hopping fools nobody, alienates the muslims and drives home the point even more that he and his party really do not care for Hindus, this is all a charade.

4. The other Jokers roped in by the Congis have their own baggage that is slowly coming out and paints a very sorry picture of these people. Together, they will sink each other, the way RaGa punctured AY's bicycle in the UP election.

5. There is seriously a groundswell of support for Hindu and Nationalist causes across the country and BJP comes across as the only party that can deliver.

6. The efforts of NaMo towards upliftment of the poor have been really genuine and he is the only leader to have not only come from their ranks but to have truly worked hard for their betterment. Everyone else simply paid lip-service with their versions of 'garibi hatao'. He embraced the poor and has indeed made a massive difference in their lives. The trickle-down effect of an overall better economy is also palpable among the poor.

I am therefore not troubled at all. The same noise was made before UP and look what happened. Gujarat is NaMo's 'Garh', despite the anti-incumbency, the BJP will definitely win.

Be thankful pappu is the leader of Kangress. Just think how close Guj elections would be with someone more competent. Thankfully the INC doesn’t have anybody like that in their party. People like Chidu and Tharoor are competent, but lack political charisma. Imagine if Rajesh Pilot or Mahdhav Rao Scindia were alive today and served the Nehru/Gandhi dynasty.

Yes, but second is harder than first*. Even if they lose, they can show that they created some momentum and hoist him with less dissent and opposition.

* Given the string of disasters they have gone through: UP, fight for Ahmed Patel's seat, having to whisk their remaining MLAs to Bengaluru during floods to prevent more defections, Vaghela types leaving, Nitish leaving, and all this in only the last 6-8 months...

The very influx of Cong/NCP into BJP itself was quite suspect, and left no doubt that there's got to be bunch of congoon sleepers. Good that they are voluntarily leaving on a quite flimsy ground of 'lack of internal party democracy'. Quite rightly timed up with Shehzaada's ascending the Congress throne.

Saar, RaGa will be INC president till kingdom come regardless of what happens in Gujarat. Who else could it be? INC is utterly bankrupt when it comes to leaders. They are all a bunch of Gandhi family sycophants to varying degrees now.

Has today's chanakya stopped doing polls after they bungled Delhi and Bihar badly?

I don't know which ones to believe these days. Everyone got it spectacularly wrong in UP. Sometimes one or the other gets close but that seems more like broken clock being right twice a day.

Chanakya did not get Bihar wrong. He got Delhi wrong though.

He had done opinion polls for UP. He was better than others in UP.

Modi is going to town with the 'neech' comment. He is bringing up all past such comments by SG and RG. He is also bringing up the 'remove him' comment of MSA made in pukistan after all this time.

Either he is going for the kill or he senses it is a close fight. Congress is certainly making a lot of noise.

He should. In fact, when I heard that MSA made the 'neech' comment, I was wondering if he is now secretly working for BJP.

As an aside, I had not ever heard the 'remove him' comment made by MSA in a meeting in Pakistan. I think this should be a bookable offense, if made of a sitting PM (or CM). Of course, it wont be; but it shows that MSA has a special level of hate for NaMo (starting with the chaiwalla comment).

Wonderful news, posting here even if it ain't really political (but everything public seems to have pol shades aajkal).

First batch of SC-ST priests ready to take charge at Tirupati temples (TOI)
AMARAVATI: In a sharp departure from tradition, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is ready with its first batch of non-Brahmin priests. The priests, mainly belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe are expected to assume charge soon.

About 200 people from Dalit and backward communities have undergone rigorous training for three months as part of a pilot project by the TTD management.

"The management is going to appoint SC, ST priests in temples governed by it very soon," TTD executive officer Anil Singhal said.

Singhal said this is the first time when members from downtrodden sections of the society are being given a chance in the recruitment process for world's richest temple. {Better late than never. looong overdue.}
Finally, at long last, the hereditary hold over who merits being called SavarNa is falling. Let they who have trained for and lived the Brahmin life have first right of being considered Brahmin. Only.

Guys I'm sure a lot of you have seen international news on Rajasthani Killer, who murdered the muslim guy and the vast coverage that it has received.
We tried to bring a different angle to the story and that it really seems to be a crime of passion.
Local journalist from the area has reported this news. Hopefully it can serve as some kind of counter to the usual ndtv hogwash of ' is this what we are becoming of a country by Sonja Singh.

Let us know ; Always looking to have some kind of counter to ad nauseaum stories often repeated.

Also some less reported news on the significant minority of Israeli tourists who are visiting Himachal and have become a target for Isis in the region. Serves to be another big threat for Indians as well. Seems like Israelis who are contributing quite heavily to the marijuana and narcotic trade, via tourist parties. They have quietly attracted the attention of ISIS as well.

Saar, in India, quotas is birth based and not profession based in case you didn't know. Secondly, am not talking about these very people, if divisions have to be erased, it should start with quota system. If one group is willing to change and drop their supposed "reservation", other groups have to do the same. Have seen many general category poor students struggle, and many rich students getting reservations. Grave injustice had been happening so far in this regard. Reservation and quotas are one of the main reasons for continued division in the society.
