Forum Technical Issues
Re: Forum Technical Issues
We will have to make categories. Let us rethink this, not just copy BRF. I think BRF's format got stale so this is a good opportunity. Also, have a fresh set of threads when required.
I will post my proposal and we can work on refining it.

Re: Forum Technical Issues
1. SSL Certificate will be done ASAP.
2. YT embedding may take a bit of time. Need to install the extension.
3. Twitter need to check. If a standard phpbb extension package is available, we can do it.

Re: Forum Technical Issues
Might need to setup email verification.
Atish is reporting at the other place that his name and email is taken here.
Added later - can we set a link to reset password sent to email. So original owners of email can reset and get access to their registered names?

Re: Forum Technical Issues
I enabled email verification. Also deleted Atish and Srikumar.
I request everyone to go back to the BRF thread and post confirmation. I will start deleting suspicious ones soon.

Re: Forum Technical Issues
Hi folks.
Good luck with this forum. Will try and contribute. On BRF I have said for years (decades now) that we need new quality forums.

Re: Forum Technical Issues
Question: Is there a plan to use email confirmation to ensure right emails are used to register?
I am using same user name in BRF and here

Re: Forum Technical Issues
There was an attempt to create India-Forum in mid 2000s. Is it still there? I used to browse that while in US but stopped on R2Iing in 2005
Re: Forum Technical Issues
No idea. India Forum did not have the culture of BRF I mean it was not uncultured but BRF was a mil-strat focused forum.
Re: Forum Technical Issues
Not reporting a technical issue. But just wanted to know how the forum admins here managed to pull the entire thread repository from the BRF forum to here? Does phpBB have a kind of "export and import" facility? The moving of the GDF to the BGF was done really quickly and with military precision. This was like a classic execution of a "Disaster Recovery Plan". Congrats on that!

Re: Forum Technical Issues
We used the famous tool "boots on the ground".
No, we did not move the thread repository. Users signed up with their BRF handles, and created threads with the same name. The only thing interesting is that I decided to take initiative to register the domain, and shravan offered a neat hosting platform right away. In fact, jamwal also offered his hosting service, but we had already made progress with Shravan's hosting. Then I spent a few hours configuring the thing, and we are in business.

Re: Forum Technical Issues
It should be possible at least in theory. I shall try it soon as a possible means of backupSachin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2017 7:11 amNot reporting a technical issue. Re: Forum Technical Issues
Webmasters can we replicate the BRF forum skin or look and feel for "seamless" navigation ?

V J wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2017 5:19 pmAs in, what # of post to what # of posts = what rank?
I want rank of Mashtaar Gunneri Sarjunt like in the movie Sootur
Request #2 can we please have the YouTube embedding thing so that videos appear in their full thumbnail glory
#3 On those same lines, if we can somehow figure out a way to embed a tweet too so that people don't have to copy-paste its contents to quote it.
Same for other popular media, social media platforms - if there is a way to do something like that.

Re: Forum Technical Issues
Welcome to "Bharat Ganrajya" mail goes to spam.
I think admin need to use some email like bharatganrajyaforum@bharatganrajya.com instead of bharatganrajyaforum@gmail.com.
Also setup SPF, DKIM or DMARC verifications

Re: Forum Technical Issues
The SSL certificate should also include bharatganrajya.com. Currently it only includes www.bharatganrajya.com although both domains resolve to the same address.

Re: Forum Technical Issues
Thank you sir. But I get a bad certificate error for www.bharatganrajya.com now. I am using Firefox v56 as my browser. I would suggest you verify with one other person in case it is just me.sandy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2017 5:19 pmDone.
