Pakis drew with Korea. So India 3, Malaysia & Korea 2, Pakis 1. On 21st India needs at least a draw with Pakis to go to the finals. Hope India thrashes Pakis. But if Malaysia, Korea game is drawn and Pakis beat India , ALL teams will have 3 points. Then what happens?

I don't know why they give full credit to the goal scorer they need to divide the credit with who assisted with pass, who dodged so many players and got to forward. There were so many defensive players playing in the D of Pakistan that I thought for almost 30 minutes that Indian coach is trying something new. You don't see full backs in advanced position. Very unique approach!! Satbir Singh is a full back who got goal to his name because he passed to front player who could not connect as a Terroristani player before him put it in a goal! so that goal goes to Satbir Singh (full Back same position as Sardar Singh)

India beat Malaysia 2-1 to win third Asia Cup title

NEW DELHI: India's ten-year wait for the continental title ended on Sunday as they beat Malaysia 2-1 to win their third Asia Cup title in Dhaka. India won the tournament twice before in 2003 and 2007 editions. They finished runners-up in the last edition in 2011 after losing to South Korea in final.

It was not a lop-sided affair like their Super 4s contest, when India defeated Malaysia 6-2, instead India have to survive some intense moments in the final few minutes to maintain the narrow lead.

Ramandeep Singh (3rd) and Lalit Upadhyay (29th) were the goal-scorers for India, while Shahril Saabah (50th) scored for Malaysia. Akashdeep Singh was adjudged Man-of-the-Match.

India were leading 2-0 with just over ten minutes left in the game when Saabah scored a brilliant goal for Malaysia to reduce the lead. It was Malaysia's first shot on goal of the match and they successfully converted it.

India started the match with attack-mode on as they penetrated the Malaysia circle as soon as the game began. The attacks paid off as Ramandeep Singh tapped in a good chance in the third minute to give India an early advantage.

Malaysia pressed hard for the equaliser in the first quarter and dominated the proceedings but without much success.

The second quarter began in similar fashion with India attacking the Malaysia circle from the word go. But the goal came late in the quarter as India double their lead through a fine counter-attack. India started the run from their own circle and reached the Malaysian D with superior numbers. Gurjant Singh collected the ball at the top of circle on the left flank from Akashdeep Singh and passed it in front of the goal-mouth where Lalit Upadhyay made no mistake to score the goal in the 29th minute. India went in the half-time break with two-goal advantage.

Even though Malaysia lead the possesion stats (58%) in the first half and even made seven circle penetration, they failed to convert them into shot on goal - the most crucial stat. India on the other hand made as many as six on target from eight circle penetration and succeeded to convert two into goals.

No goal in the Q3, but it was all India in the quarter as they made as many as nine circle penetrations with two shots on goal. Malaysia managed just one penetration in the entire quarter.

This is supposed to be the 'Official' website of the Asian Hockey Fed. But it comes up with crazy headlines:

'India survives the Pakistan scare' was the previous headline..

Now it is 'SPLENDID PAKISTAN BEAT KOREA 6-3; WIN BRONZE IN HERO ASIA CUP 2017'

This website is run by the shameless Pakis (Some one pointed out that WHOIS shows it is located in LaWhore)

Congratulations Team India. Played and Won like Champions. The Pakis are not significant any more to a rising India in any field it was good to see TI push them out of the contest like a fly from milk and then beating the pseudo Pakis in the finals

Yes that video is from last year's Asian Champions Trophy final in Singapore. It was also a hard fought match that we won in the last minute of regulation time. There's quite some drama in the end. Check it out.

In this just concluded Asia Cup, we didn't win in regular penalty strokes. Those ended 4-4 after 5 shots each. We won in sudden death, scoring on our turn, and then the Chinese messed up theirs.

Overall, two hard fought finals between the two countries one year apart, and we came out on top both times.
