Does anyone understand the reason Employment Statistics from GoI stopped in 2016? They seem to have been published annually till 2016.

This is bolstering the Congi case that there is massive unemployment.

Hindu Friends from Kerala in department reflect what the issue is on ground.
They lampooned BJP and Hindutva.
Always said we are communists and proud Hindus, now when commies have ravaged their temple they are furious and dissing communists (at the same time they want Modi whom they never liked , to bring ordinance)
yet I see most of them are bending backwards again and gradually ready to accommodate again, this time Xians and Muslims in temple cos it is SC order ! Evoultion is cruel , it doesn't support those who cant see the light.
More frustrating is that congress is going to be the only beneficiary if communists lose space.

It would awesome to have another round of Portguese come in and do some "inquisition" styled treatment to Kerala Hindus. Self deprecation doesn't seem have found its lowest abyss yet. I find this entitled expectations pretty outrageous. First, they expect rest of Hindus (North Indians Hindus, East/West Hindus) to sympathize their cause and rescue 'em. Second, they expect Modi to bring in ordnance and rescue them from the Shabrimala issue. Meanwhile they vote for commies or Congoons for state government. Some simpletons (I read 4-5 of them) have committed suicide in their protest against SC diktat. Seriously that doesn't make any difference on ground whatsoever.

As UN Slams India For Deporting Five, Saudi Arabia To Send Back Hundreds Of Rohingyas To Bangladesh
On Sunday (6 January), Saudi Arabia is all prepared to send Rohingya immigrants out of their territory. Rohingyas, who have spent about five to six years in Saudi detention, were being lined up for deportations at the Shumaisi detention centre in Jeddah, India Today has reported.

According to the report, in a video footage received by a London-based news outlet, a detainee could be heard saying that he has been in Saudi Arabia for the past six years and is now being sent to Bangladesh, where he, like other Rohingyas, will become refugee.

"I've been here for the last five to six years, now they are sending me to Bangladesh. Please pray for me," he said.

After reported attempt to resist their deportation to Bangladesh, some of them were also put in handcuffs, according to voice notes sent to the outlet.

"They came to our cells in the middle of the night, telling us to pack our bags, and get ready for Bangladesh. They put handcuffs on me and now making us wait." said another voice note.

As per the report, many Rohingya locked up in the Shumaisi detention centre reportedly went to Saudi Arabia on Bangladeshi passports that were obtained using fake documents. Some of them reportedly also used passports from India, Nepal, Pakistan and Nepal to enter Saudi Arabia.

India, on 3 January, deported a family of five Rohingyas who were lodged at an Assam prison. One more Rohingya migrant, from Rakhine state of Myanmar, kept at Ambala jail in Haryana was also sent back on 2 January.

This is very definitely a stinking can of worms.

Something like this happened at koodankulam when offshore entities including religious ones ganged up to prevent russia from signing more orders. The russians specifically alluded to this aspect of the protests and warned "certain" countries of economic vengeance.

The GoI has incontrovertible proof of such gross and crass interference of BIF forces in India's internal affairs.

MMS ALSO ALLUDED OPENLY TO SUCH EFFORTS AND FORCES.

It looks like the BIF is back again. Some may remember the virulent and vehement reaction in the UK when the rafale was chosen over the euro fighter

https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/op ... arting[/b]

Rafale win leaves UK smarting

Cameron vows to persuade India to choose Eurofighter

France's Dassault flies away with $10-b fighter jet deal

Britain, a key arms supplier to India, cannot believe that it lost out to France.
Last year, a group of Indian journalists were taken on a tour of BAE System's Warton Aerodrome on Britain's northwest coast, where Eurofighter Typhoons for British and Saudi contracts were being assembled.

We watched a Typhoon swoop above, tried on and played around with the jet's pilot helmet, a Darth Vaderesque object with an optical tracking system fitted inside, and generally had as much of an adventure park-like experience that one could have at an aerodrome assembling war planes.

Everyone, of course, avoided being drawn into a discussion of the four-nation Eurofighter consortium's prospects for winning the $10-billion bid for 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) but there was certainly an air of cautious optimism.

Unsurprisingly, perhaps. With the exception of Russia, no other country has had as lucrative a trade with India when it comes to arms as Britain has.

Between 1950 and 2010, India has imported $15.3 billion worth of arms from Britain, against $4 billion from France and $1.8 billion from Germany, according to data from the Swedish International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

It is a dominance that has continued into the current decade: In the decade till 2010, British arms exports to India totalled $859 million, more than the total for Germany ($414 million) and France ($432 million) combined.

Britain's consistent position as second-to-Russia when it came to Indian arms imports has bucked the direction of their bilateral trade relationship, which has seen Britain slip behind other European nations in relative terms. And globally the Indian arms market matters more than any: between 2006 and 2010, it was the largest arms importer in the world, accounting for an impressive 9 per cent of international arms transfer volumes, according to SIPRI data.

France's steady presence
France has been a steady presence in that market since the 1950s, and Germany since the 1960s — but failed to take over from Britain.

While France has established itself across platforms — from the Mirage to submarines — Germany, the third largest exporter of arms in the world, has failed to establish a major presence beyond engine systems in the Indian market, often because of the costliness of its product, says Siemon Wezeman, senior researcher at SIPRI.

The Indian market has also consistently remained a European battleground, unlike other Asian markets (US arms exports to Japan totalled $57 billion between 1950 and 2010 against $1.4 billion from Britain and $442 million from Germany).

Excluding Russia, India's four largest sources of arms are European (Switzerland and the Netherlands are both ahead of Israel, with the US never taking off as a major supplier, partly because of its relationship with Pakistan and partly for limited willingness to transfer technology and stringent conditions such as weapons inspections).

Aggressive UK campaign
Though the Eurofighter bid was led by Germany's Cassidian, there was aggressive campaigning by Britain — not least during the Prime Minister, Mr David Cameron's visit to India in 2010 shortly after the British general election, during which a £500-million contract between BAE Systems and Hindustan Electronics for Hawk training jets was signed.

During a visit to India last year, Britain's development minister, Mr Andrew Mitchell, linked the strategic aim of the nation's decision to maintain £1.2 billion of aid to India — while scrapping it for many other countries — to trade and even directly to the Eurofighter campaign. “The focus is also about seeking to sell Typhoon,” he said, according to Britain's The Independent newspaper at the time.

In Germany, the reaction to the news that Dassault Aviation had emerged as the lowest, and therefore preferred bidder for the MMRCA contract was relatively muted, with criticism more focused on the limited role that the Chancellor, Ms Angela Merkel, played in the campaign, compared with the involvement of the French President, Mr Nicholas Sarkozy on Dassault's behalf.

By contrast, in Britain, it has been vitriolic at points, making clear the presumptiveness that prevailed in some quarters, despite the fact that it had been clear that having tested all the first-round contenders against 660 different criteria, the final round was all about costs. “Well, that's gratitude,” The Daily Mail newspaper — reportedly the most read newspaper web site in the world — declared furiously.

“We give India £1 billion in aid, THEY snub the UK and give France a £13-billion jet contract!” Some Conservative MPs called on the government to revisit the decision on aid.

Mr Cameron, steering clear of any retaliatory rhetoric, vowed to do all he could to persuade India to revisit the decision — though whether he will do so at a potential cost to diplomatic relations is another matter altogether, say some observers.

Boost for Sarkozy
That a country that exited the Eurofighter project — originally initiated in the 1970s as a cost-sharing project across European nations — had beaten the consortium on the complex cost calculations, including life cycle costs and technology transfer, was bad enough.

Let alone a company that is yet to sell a single Rafale outside France, despite coming close to deals in the UAE, Brazil, Libya, Switzerland and South Korea. (At one point a French minister warned that the project would have to be scrapped if no sales were agreed soon).

That it was a French victory, so soon after India had opted for a $2.5-billion upgrade of its Mirage 2000s grated even more in Britain, given the sparring between the leaders of the two nations in the past few months.

Mr Sarkozy has made no secret of his contempt for Mr Cameron's criticism of Euro Zone nations — at one point telling him to join the euro or ‘shut up'. Just the day before the contract was announced Mr Sarkozy declared Britain had ‘no industry left', a comment that wouldn't have rankled so much if there weren't elements of truth to it.

The MMRCA contact is a boost for Mr Sarkozy so close to the May Presidential elections, with the potential impact — should the contract be signed — set to be felt beyond just Dassault Aviation itself (Thales will supply information systems and Safran the twin M88 engines).

‘Dogfight' was the way Ashley J. Tellis of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace characterised the global battle to win the MMRCA contract in a report last year, even before the initial shortlist was drawn up.

It has proved an accurate description: with the first round of short-listing last year being seen inaccurately by some of a rebuffing of a closer strategic relationship with the US, rather than the reality, which was a reflection of the military's technological needs and a willingness by the bidders to share technology.

Last week's decision is likely to face the same sort of pressure.

It is up to the government to combat that pressure, through transparency about how it arrived at the cost ranking, and to show that it is capable of having a relationship with diverse partners, based on a strict set of criteria, and that it is a relationship that no nation can take for granted.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha

This is very definitely a stinking can of worms and it was referred to as such in parliament by no less than a serving and ranking cabinet minister. It is not such a big deal to figure out who may have been behind such dubious but potentially lucrative shenanigans.

This is also the erstwhile colonial empire striking back along with its old colonial frenemy the US.

This is also a variation on how the IA was deprived of crucial artillery for close to two decades by players in India helping the BIF.

Did You Know: Christian Michel Tried To Scuttle Rafale Deal By Lobbying For Competitor Eurofighter Typhoon, Says Report

Did You Know: Christian Michel Tried To Scuttle Rafale Deal By Lobbying For Competitor Eurofighter Typhoon, Says Report

Reports have emerged that Christian Michel, accused of bribery and money laundering in the AgustsaWestland chopper scam, also tried to scuttle the Rafale deal, by devising a “strategy” to promote Eurofighters, which are Rafale’s stiff competitors in the market.

During the Lok Sabha discussion on the deal, when the Opposition tried to belittle the Narendra Modi government by throwing paper planes at the Finance Minister during his speech, Arun Jaitley quipped, “I think these planes are being flown in the memory of Eurofighters.”

In 2007, when the Congress government at the Centre, was trying to strike a deal for fighter planes, Rafale, which was one of the main contenders, had to compete with five others in its league. One of them was Eurofighter Typhoon, designed by a consortium of multinational defence companies from UK, Germany, Italy and Spain. However, after a rigorous testing process by the Air Force, Rafale was selected.

However, India Today TV, in an exclusive report, claims that documents it accessed have now revealed that two middlemen accused of obtaining kickbacks in the VVIP AgustaWestland chopper deal had also ‘strategised’ for the Eurofighter in order to seal the deal in its favour.

A "strategy paper", which was seized during raids at the house of Italian middleman Guido Haschke's, has now revealed that Michel and Haschke worked together on a plan to place Rafale's prime competitor in a “position of advantage” in the selection process.

The document further reads, “There is a need to engage an in-country bureaucratical and political navigator, who should have worked in the Defence Ministry and must be known well on first-name basis by key bureaucrats, the Defence Minister, the PM, the Finance Minister and the Leading Family."

However, Michel and Haschke had a fallout after the signing of the VVIP chopper deal in 2010 even as Rafale and Eurofighter continued to compete for the 126-fighter-jet contract.

Re Maharashtra if the BJP and Shiv Sena both go it alone then surely they will just eat into each other’s voteshare and hand the majority of seats to Congress/NCP?

Going solo will not end well for either party.

The amendment can be passed in Lok Sabha easily, as BJP runs the show there. In Rajya Sabha any one who opposes it will have to get the plans quite well made. BJP is planning to have a quota not by cutting/reducing any existing quota schemes. And there are BJP ruled states where the constitution amendment will be passed. And in other states (eg: KL, the state government will have to give some valid reasons for opposing it).

All said and done, all Janyu dhari Brahmanas and "seculars" have been now asked to clearly state their stance on helping the poor among the forward castes. If they support the BJP, fine; or else BJP would go to the town asking the forward castes on who their real enemies are.

couldn't they have done this before the state elections??,

they would have got many more seats and maybe formed the governments there.

they lost many seats by just a few hundred or even less votes

Next step should be to make the OBC reservations only for H/S/B/J as neither Islam nor Christianity has caste system. You can avail reservation if you re-convert.

That isn’t a problem as such. Converts are still H on paper. So they avail benefits for Hindus but are no longer Hindus. There’s no way to stop it because unless they declare themselves to have converted you can’t even take legal action.

That is their problem if they want to stay hanging for generations. But at least in the northern part of the country this is not a huge problem. But the original intention of reservations was to help deprived classes among H/S/B/J not religion based reservations. They have pushed religion based reservation into it under the rubric of social, educational, etc backwardness. This needs to be corrected. I hope Yogi does it in UP as he is rejigging the quota. As most M/C are converts they can avail those if they re-convert.

I noticed something odd today. As soon as the bill was introduced to the public, there was outrage from all corners of the web. It looks like Congress built very large presence on social media. I also noticed the quality of the content they are pushing. It sounds right if we think from certain point of view. Whoever working for congress, they must be brilliant at what they do.

And then another thing happened on youtube. I am always seeing Dru-v R-athi rafael video in my recommended list. It's very funny. That video is not all related to the content I watch on youtube,

Less said about my news feeds, the better. I read articles from opindia, Swarajya and other such news portals. But somehow my feed has news from only rNDTV and Indian(Paki) Express. It's been ages since I checked any rNdtv articles and somehow google not getting my feed right.

It's like the whole internet is against me.

The financials based reservation is great. Over time only financials need to be the criteria for reservations.

That alone should prevent a lot of NOTA.

Next step should be to drastically reduce income tax..

Kneejerk reaction by Govt stung badly by KO defeats in last round. We are not getting rid of reservations even in long term future.
Instead of looking at the reason of UC (Do we still use this word??) anger, Govt hands them another lollypop.
Just one round of defeat and govt starts behaving like Congress, throw some more bones at the hungry masses. Screw the country.

So few more MC would hide their true Mazhab and savor these fruits of reservation to till thy kingdom come.

Its a reality that Govt can not pass this bill which apparently would require constitutional amendments. Opposition would not let the bill pass in RS and let NM hog the credit.
But why should a bill passed in Parl shold be revisited by SC even if it tinkers with the basic structure of the Constitution. Who decides what is the basic structure of constitution and where does Parl asks the Judiciary to Eff off.

BTW in case you haven't noticed, prices of essential edible commodities are again rising. I paid Rs.50( KG)for tomatoes and Rs.40 for cabbage (750 gms). Next in line is onion and pulses. This is the time that central govt should keep prices of everything down for next 4 months lest Onion episode returns to make all of us cry.

That is true. But any body who opposes this would be seen as a group who are against the poor people in Forward communities. And mind you, GoI is not proposing to take this 10% from existing reservation quotas, but adding a separate block. Even the current reserved communities need not make an issue out of this as their benefits would remain the same. And stopping the current reservation scheme would be a political suicide for any Indian political party who does that. That is how the Indian society is.

This is for all General Class people, not Upper caste. That means it applies to non - Hindus as well. Also provides for 10 percent reservation in non - Minority educational institutions.

Senior Congress Leader Kapil Sibal represents Anil Ambani in Ericsson case

Reliance Telecom-Ericsson case: Anil Ambani defended by Congress leader Kapil Sibal in Supreme Court

Contrary to Rahul Gandhi's claim of Modi favouring Anil Ambani, the govt is not allowing RComm to sell its assents to Jio to clear its dues.

OPINDIA STAFF
JANUARY 8, 2019

Supreme Court has delivered a setback and served a contempt notice to the chairman of Reliance communications Anil Ambani, for failure to repay the due of Rs 550 crore to Sweden-based telecommunication company Ericsson. SC also refused to exempt the chairman from the physical appearance in the court in the next hearing.

Anil Ambani was represented by Congress leader Kapil Sibal and Former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi. Both advocates tried hard to convince the court to exempt Ambani from physical appearance, but the court refused to budge from its stand.

Congress leader has defended Ambani in many hearings of the case in past too. In October last year, Kapil Sibal had asserted in court that the delay in repayment on behalf of its client company is due to non-issuance of NoC for Sale of Assets by Department of Telecommunication.

RCom offered bank drafts worth Rs 118 crore, net of tax, to Ericsson in court, in order to settle a part of the principal amount owed to Ericcson. But, the advocates representing the Swedish company have refused to accept the part payment. Ericsson is also pursuing insolvency proceedings against RCom. The next hearing of the insolvency proceeding is on January 22.

The court has also attended RComm’s contempt plea against the DoT, for not clearing the spectrum sale to Mukesh Ambani led Jio. The spectrum deal is in a logjam, after Jio wrote a plea to DoT, that it should hold the deal ’till the time company agrees fully that RComm has complied to priorly-discussed conditions. Both Kapil Sibal and Rohtage have given assurance to Jio, that RComm is ready to comply with every condition discussed before.

Anil Ambani is not only stuck between corporate cases in courts but also is in the middle of the Rafale drama, orchestrated by Congres president Rahul Gandhi and his exponents. The Congress president has been alleging that PM Narendra Modi has given ₹30,000 crore to Anil Ambani, which has no relation with truth of the deal. Rahul Gandhi has been making false allegations that the Rafale deal has been taken away from HAL and given to Reliance, when the fact is that Rafale is being fully made in France by Dassault and Anil Ambani’s company is not involved in manufacture of the aircraft.

In addition to corruption, the PM should be investigated for weakening national security by giving the Rafale contract to his friend and international debt master, Anil Ambani. https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/in ... 372397.cms

Ericsson seeks jail for RCom chairman Anil Ambani unless dues cleared

The Swedish firm said Ambani should not be allowed to travel overseas and sought his detention in civil prison.

On 4 January this year, President Rahul Gandhi had shared a News Article by Economic Times, reporting Ericsson’s demand for strict action defaulter RComm. He labelled Anil Ambani, an “international debt master”. He has also called Anil Ambani, a “failed businessman”. However, President Gandhi forgets to add that, in the very case of Anil Ambani has been defended by his party leader Kapil Sibal.

Rahul Gandhi has been attacking government without regards to fact that SC, last year, had vindicated government and had refuted claims of commercial favouritism in the deal. Earlier, Anil Ambani had written a letter and rebutted the allegations that Rahul Gandhi has been levelling against the government and the Reliance group over the deal.

RComm has so far missed two payment deadlines to pay up. Ericsson has asked the court to detain Anil Ambani in civil prison and bar him from travelling outside the country.

Ericsson had signed a seven-year deal with Reliance Communications in 2014 to operate and manage its nationwide telecom network. After alleged non-payment of dues since 2016, Ericsson moved the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) against Reliance Communication and group companies, Reliance Infratel and Reliance Telecom, in September 2017.

Reliance Telecom shut down its mobile phone service in October last year, and later it had signed a deal to sell its assets to pay its dues. But the transaction is not being cleared by DoT, resulting in defaults in payments by the company. Before winding the services, the Company had attempted a merger with Aircel, but that deal was also cancelled due to lack of regulatory approvals.

It is interesting to note while Rahul Gandhi blames the Modi government of favouring Anil Ambani, the reality is completely opposite. The government’s decision ensured that Reliance Telecom had to shut down, and now it is not allowing the sale of its assets to clear its dues. On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi’s own party leader is defending the company in the court.
