The notion that your words and sentiment doesn't count if you merely use your vote. Not unless you also organize, protest, make noise, do civil-disobedience etc is interesting in a way. It says that a peaceable people have no hope of getting their genuine aspirations heard unless they cr@p all over and stink up the place.
I don't take these posters' opinion seriously. They do not represent BJP or RSS. They are only blind supporters who by hook or crook want to counter every criticism and comes up with fabulous theories of how BJP is not pro hindu, or how RSS just 'facilitate'. Come election these organizations starts cajoling hindu voters. See how Yogi has been toured across India, see the statement he gave about hinduism. We must make them accountable otherwise this is like yeda banake pedha khaneka. But funny thing is, as you earlier said, after all this kolavari I too will end up voting BJP

Abhijit, I know perhaps asking you is a mistake. But how are you holding the BJP accountable? Via Twitter or writing to the Gen Secy? I'm genuinely curious since you dismisses all posters trying to have a discussion as fanboys. Are you able to reach Fadnavis and question him about BMC performance or check why he is "anti Hindu" now.

Gurdaspur LS seat goes to Congress by a massive margin.

Not Fadnavis. He is doing relatively okay. He does crazy stuff now and then but has not reached to a level where I start throwing tantrums :D

But for Diwali crackers issue I have reached out to PMO and Env Ministry. PMO just closed my grievance but saying 'no action required'. No response from Env ministry yet. Will reach out to local MP, although I am not sure what he can do about it but every option is good.

I am sorry, I didn't mean that. But if someone goes to an extend to make a case that BJP does not project themselves as pro hindu party then I think it is bit too much to make a point to support BJP on this issue.

I understand where you're coming from. Just trying to figure what is the right manner to raise this. RTE is my #1 concern and perhaps I'm sitting back instead of moving some mountain.

About the state elections in the pipe line -
KA - seems to be a lost cause for BJP
GJ - looks tough for BJP
HP - Looks tough for BJP

Any opinion polls that anyone knows of? I have been out of circulation for last 1 week.

Praveen Patil (5forty3) does not think so. Check his twitter feed.

Heard the same from a chap (a Keralite) who has connections with lot many ministers, cutting across party lines in KA. His prediction is a Congress win. And to be frank, it is better that BJP loses KA. They are equally corrupt, and perhaps they remaining a strong opposition may be better. And during the current Congress rule, I did not see BJP even bringing up any big issues and forcing their way through. They just played along (and used the "Modi wave"). May be KA should vote in the humble farmer Deve Gowdru for a change.

Gujarath elections seems to be again a nerve-wracking ones. Even the "secular" media have not gone really overboard declaring that BJP would get trounced. They too grudgingly admit that the BJP still has a core vote base intact in GJ.

As there is just 2 months left for Guj elections I was expecting some opinion polls by now. Surprisingly, no one really seems to be coming up with predictions.
Even 543 - He states that his ground research shows a good victory for BJP but BJP workers themselves are not sure of victory.
Vey confusing.....

^ I wouldn't read too much into state assembly polls.

I'm reminded of the 2007-08 period when BJP won a string of state polls (RJ, MP, GJ, PJ, UKD, HP among others) and raised hopes about a 2009 GE poll performance. UPA2 returned with better numbers than before in 2009 and BJP crashed back hard back then.

Sure, the MGNREGA and all played their stellar part. But also, so did the robust UPA1 econ growth story (built largely by NDA1's hardwork).

And then, suddenly, in 2011, the tide turned, the mood soured. IAC and jantar mantar and Anna-Kejriwal happened. Testament to how soon and how wide the mood change can be.

Mercifully in 2019GE, a leaderless opposition, division in enemy ranks fostered by MAD, laser-like focus on booth mgmt and performance by Shah etc will hold NDA in good stead. Let's see.

Meanwhile bjp was closing on shiv sena to become largest party in BMC and shiv sena checkmated bjp by taking 6 out of 7 MNS corporates.

Will 2019 be a 2004 redux (what many here have been asking) http://www.opindia.com/2017/10/will-201 ... s-for-bjp/

Good article. Thanks for posting. Kinda spells out nicely what I've been struggling to articulate only. Not that I agree 100% or anything, but the basic premise is sound, IMHO.

Jammu slipping away...?

Hari Om‏
@Prof_HariOm
Anti-BJP wave grips Jammu.
Why?
Tie up with anti-Hindu/pro-Pak PDP
35A/370 not repealed
No action on Rohingyas
No rights to Hindu refugees

Bjp won Gurdaspur in 2014 thanks to robust performance by AAP. Now as AAP slips badly in Punjab, it could not divide anti Bjp votes!!

Good article. I will go one step ahead and will blame bjp for letting trust factor go down. All they need to do is to take a clear and loud stand against these issues but they have not. People can still have hope if they see 'ah bjp tried but enemy was more powerful. will fight next battle.' But this not happening. It doesn't cost them single paisa (or does it?) to take stand when comes to hindu festivals. But sigh.

It's been only half a year since big UP win and already we are discounting 2019.

Break few BIF bones and things will fall in place. No one will then dare ask you what extra you did beside casting your vote.
The problem here would be the police that would side with RoP, RoL and BIF and all administrations (with a BJP one first in line) that would side with the police.

Now what?
The police always sides with whoever is in power, that will never change, so the first need of the hour is to remain in power. To do that, one needs to vote for the 'right' party. It is all a circular phenomenon. What goes around, comes around.

What Hindus need is a truly powerful 'militant' wing, like the Sikhs had in times past or the Muslims have always had. This creates a perpetual threat of retaliation whenever Hindu interests are taken for granted and harmed in what would be an egregious manner. Case in example - compare the prophet's cartoons vs MFH's nude Saraswati. Plenty of MSM outlets screamed to allow the artist the freedom of expression to paint whatever he thought was 'art'. Not a single one however said it was OK to draw cartoons of the prophet. Yes, they protested the killings of the people at Charlie Hebdo, saying it is 'un-islamic' (when the truth is quite the opposite), but nobody said it was an artist or writer's fundamental right to write or draw anything related to Islam that may be considered 'insulting'. The reason is obvious - nobody wanted to be the next Charlie Hebdo.

The same applies to Hindu traditions and festivals. Has anybody tried to stop the processions at Muharram saying the self-flagellations are cruel and barbaric, or the killing of thousands of goats on Bakri-Id saying this is bad for the planet (forget for a moment it is bad for the goats!).

In this long civilizational battle, 'jo dar gaya, samjho mar gaya'.

"Reiterating this again - As of today BJP seems to be in a near virtual cakewalk situation both in Gujarat and Himachal!"

This is slightly old news (1-2 months olds). Own flag, then Hindi out of Namma Metro, Lingayaths encouraged to become another religion etc. were all of Siddu's latest "secular" moves.
PS: One reason for the Lingayaths to ask for a separate religion seems to be the much debated (at BRF and BGF) issue, i.e RTE. This community has lots of educational establishments.
