It’s not true that Chinese players keep away from regular Super Series circuit . You can’t accumulate ranking points without playing the circuit . BWF rules also require players to play a minimum number of events to be eligible to be considered for qualification to big events .
Look back at Super Series 3-4 years ago and you’ll repeatedly see Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei or Chen Long won 4-6 super series in one year . In fact Srikanth is only the 4th men’s player to win at least 4 super series in one year, after the three mentioned above.
The fact is that except for Lin Dan who’s old, and Chen Long, who’s lost form, they don’t have their former bench strength . WS is even more dire - they have two youngsters who are yet to win anything this season . They just happen to suck now.
This season India has 7 singles titles - 5 men’s (4 Srikanth , 1 Sai Praneeth) and 2 women’s (both Sindhu) . China has a total of... 1 (Lin Dan won I think Malaysia Open) . In the past it was the other way around - multiple Chinese players would win titles all year while we would trumpet one or two.
Of the 11 titles this year for China, 6 are in Mixed Doubles, 4 more in MD/WD and one singles title mentioned above . Same story for Indonesia - 8 doubles and 1 singles . India has the most singles titles this year .
