SaiK,
What is your budget?
It is less about the camera and more about the lenses. If you're invested in a particular lens system, then stick to it. To do this right you will have to spend nearly $5K on a camera body and lenses. You need wide angle, medium telephoto and zoom. Each of those lenses are around $1000 each and then about $2000 on the body. It isn't the camera system, but the subject and if you spend more on the camera, then you won't have money to travel to where you want to go.
Well, too late.. it was for my daughter. She is now into fashion photography (portraits) for her friends. jeez.. she did about 40 kids or more and got back my investments. I went for DSLR/nikon d5600. now she might buy her own lenses. she is looking for 1.2 focal lenses for portraits, and now I have no clue to her needs. [I gave her max 1500 bucks, and she got it all back].
she made a killing during her summer holidays. wow! I am impressed in both her photography and editing skills. she just used iphone apps for editing. kids have gone crazy for her shots.
just fyi onree.. I don't know her next plans

Great! Good for you and your daughter. Passion and talent like this needs to be nurtured. Every human with a smartphone is now a photographer, but it takes skill and an 'eye' to take good pictures and they almost always need some processing. People photography is especially difficult because the subject always looks at his/her own picture first and then no matter how great everyone else looks, they are not happy if their eyes are closed or mouth open etc. Impossible to please everyone, which is why individual portraits are so much easier to do, take several shots in rapid succession and pick the one where there is nothing out of whack.
Portrait lenses are basically high aperture (meaning lower number) so that the depth of field is very shallow. What this does is softens the background behind the subject so the eye of the viewer remains on the subject and is not distracted by a branch or lamp post or curtain or other stuff. The wider the aperture of the lens, the shallower the DOF (depth of field), especially in the longer focal length lenses, which for portraits are typically 85mm or longer. The ideal lens for portraits these days is the 85mm f1.2 but these are very expensive.
Look up 'bokeh' and you will see what this is about. It applies to portraits, nature, objects - anything you can think of.
here is one website (photo Argus has some great examples of different kinds of photography):
https://www.thephotoargus.com/40-beauti ... otography/
If you look at wedding photographers, the two lenses they always have (usually mounted on two bodies so they can switch instantly) are the 24-70mm and the 70-200mm, usually both at f2.8 aperture. This covers 99% their needs, for individual and group shots. The 85mm f1.2 is a very special lens though.

I love photos of Indian temples and relics, they are incredibly beautiful and to think that the majority of them were destroyed.

Some fantastic shot Sam. I was trying to identify some of these birds, but not really find one that exactly matches. Is the last one a Pitta bird? In any case, fabulous shots.

D750 vs Any camera you may suggest? DSLR is the thought., not for mirrorless now given the price.
Needs: portrait photography (major), high-school sport events (minor), teen stuffs, and some nature(occasional).

Vyoman Bhai,
D750 is an excellent camera. In lot of sense it beats even the d810. Being a full frame camera with 24 mp and a high ISO, I wouldn't look further. Unless you want to stick with DX,then I would highly suggest d500. All the needs that you have mentioned can be handled by the 750 extremely well.
I have been using the d300s for almost a decade now. I love the ergonomics and feel of the camera. I am looking to upgarde and am on the fence as to jump over to ML. But being a Nikonian since the beginning I would like to stick with Nikon. I had thought of buying a d850 but held back for the new Z series to roll out and then decide. I think most of the modern camera's are pretty good. What is important is the Lenses. A good lens can produce amazingly sharp pictures.
Here are few that I have shot with the d300s + 500mm f4 prime that I picked up recently.
Oriental Magpie Robin
White Rumped Munia
Jerdon's Leaf Bird
Red Whiskered Bulbul
Oriental White eye

Thanks for posting Sam. Again some amazing shots. Hard to believe that these are all from what I think is surrounding areas around Bangalore? One might've thought that you would've taken them somewhere from the Western ghats or there about. In any case, looking for more.

Sam ji, thanks for the valuable inputs.. this was indeed for my daughter. You know how teens flicker with their minds. I said D750 is a buy!~.. best buy she goes, and buys a Z6. Now she struggles with understanding settings, views and goes, she must learn it first. I am stuck with unable to sell her D5600. I am not a photographer, but I do appreciate good photography. Is she on the right path?

Vymon Bhai,
Sorry for the extremely Late reply.
I think Z6 is a very good mirrorless camera from Nikon. There is a very good review here:
http://www.sansmirror.com/cameras/camer ... eview.html
Mirrorless are the future. Lot of photogs that I know are switching to Mirrorless at a rapid pace. Its like there is a Exodus already.
I was recently looking to upgrade my camera (D300S) which I've had it for almost 8 years. even I was in the same dilemma. Should I switch to Mirrorless or stay with DSLR ( Dx or Fx). I was waiting for the release of Z50 from Nikon. Post that I decided to stay with non mirrorless and bought a D850. For the type of shooting that I would like to do d850 suits well currently. Here is one eg: from the d850.
