There was some controversy last year Bhoosali true to Bhaiwood estyle lionized the role of muslim invader and showed Padmavathi to be in awe of him. I think he got slapped around by locals in Rajasthan until he agreed to change his original script.

Shandilya - Interesting. I did not know about the controversy earlier. Hopefully he does justice to the story and portrays it correctly.

Bhansali movies are no good ! Jodha Akbar and Bajirao Mastani. Bad flicks trying to tell Romilla Thapar version of history!

The way feminists and media is going for Hrithik's head is definitely part of a larger agenda. Does anyone remember the media putting Sallu bhai on a stand like this despite his blatant and proven domestic violence against Aishwarya and Katrina, running over people or killing endangered animals? Or even Sanjay Dutt?

These two criminals are adored and called Bhai and Baba while a Hindu powerhouse family in Bollywood is being attacked relentlessly.

I found the bajirao mastani average or slightly below average only, the ending being pathetic

There's a new movie in the works about the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Good promise, let's see how it is executed.

The Director and the real cricketers who would be portrayed in the movie did a promo, brought back childhood memories of my cricketing heroes.

I have no idea why they got that stupid buffoon Ranveer Singh to play Kapil Dev. Overacting annoying idiot.

Since such stuff is a click away and I don't have to take a Tempo to Pattanikadai and trudge to Raja Talkies and buy a Rs 5 ticket, I clicked on "Simran". I managed to watch the first 20 minutes and then I fast forwarded to watch the last 15 minutes. Did not yenjaay. However Kangana Ranaut is a very photogenic young lady who always looks good. And put-on or not I liked her naarmal desi accent in Amreeka

Because it is completely false. There was no love affair between Khalji and Padmavati. The Delhi Sultnate sacked Chittorgarh and committed ethnic cleansing by killing 30,000 Hindus. The women committed to jauhar (mass self immolation) to avoid being raped and thrown into slave harems.

There was controversy in Mah even around Bajirao Mastani. The Maharashtrians had protested that he has shown the movie more from a romantic angle, well nothing wrong in that knowing what bollywood has offered over the years, but the main point of protest was the way the royal ladies were shown gyrating to item type songs. It was more of a bollywood filmy tamasa and a huge let down for the portrayal of this great character. A recent TV series Bajirao was much well made and one can see how SLB distorts history to make it more saucy. This is as cheap as it gets.

Yeah. The Rajputs in Rajasthan are unhappy at the portrayal. There is a long history in the Mewar region between Kumbalgarh and Chitorgarh.

Arnab on Republic TV has seen the movie and feels it is the greatest tribute to Rajput pride. It is time the rumor mongering ends and people get to see the movie.

Why Padmavati and many more other stories need to be told if you want to defeat the C-system, know your history and prevent brain washing.

Regarding the whole Padmavati thing. I just dont get why Bhansai doesnt show the movie to Karni Sena and lets say the Maharana of Mewar family and be done with it? He is showing it to TV channels after all! Maybe for publicity. But I guess that boomeranged once the movie was indefinitely delayed.
While, as Arnab says, it mightve been a great tribute to Rajput valor, at least from now in Bollywood would be more 'sensitive' to Hindu values. Nothing hurts like money lost.

^^ Apart from the big bad capitalist and benevolent socialistic state :).

But, I like the movie a lot. A great set of special effects to recreate a coal mine and its tragical flooding. Keep in mind, it was a film made in the seventies, when there was no animation or CGI.

Watching Newton currently. What a well made movie without the usual glitz. Also shows how unaware we are about the rest of the country's condition and the challenges of the daily life there. I hope we get more such movies to educate people
