Anyone in the know about this?

Gurugram-based company makes world's first hack-proof, blockchain phone - News Minute
The significant aspect of this device is that it does not contain a single Chinese component in it and is completely made in India,
...
Though the device looks very much like a smartphone and functions like one, the Indian company, VVDN Technologies, would want the device to be named a crypto-communicator only. VVDN is building this device in India in collaboration with an Irish company, Embedded Downloads, as per a report in Gadgets Now

The unique features of the phone include a combination of biometric identification and near-field communication technology (NFC) to gain access to the device. Even more interesting is that the user has to create fresh private and public keys each time the phone is unlocked and these keys are not stored either.

The iris and fingerprints are used to create the keys. In reality, this is the strongest point with the crypto-communicator; all encryption keys during any activity are generated instantly and destroyed as soon as the activity is completed and there are multi-level encryption being done within any such activity, like a voice call or a message transmission.

Pixel 2 XL starts at about $850 in US for 64GB variant. Pixel 2 starts from $650 in US for same capacity as well.

Pixel 2 is 5" FHD OLED and Pixel 2 XL is 6" QHD PO-OLED displays.

Both phones will be available for pre-order in India apart from US, UK, Germany, Canada & Australia from today. Expect INR 50K for Pixel 2 & 65K INR for Pixel 2 XL.

Not too stoked about the new Pixels. This particular launch event was just too mundane for me and nothing really made me go wow!

Speaking of wow, checkout the leaked photo of the upcoming Nokia 9

I would be somewhat skeptical of the 'no Chinese component' claim and I am not talking about passives.

I am assuming they are using embedded core FPGA. I was considering developing a secure phone for the forces and DRDO folk. Only LRDE have a good phone security policy as I have seen. For a good reason too. Even NPOL permit smart phones for the staff, while asking us vijiters not to look at the screens of workstations :)

pixel2 comes with wireless earbuds - which can do real time translation both to and back..lets you have conversation with another person speaking different language..

even if this thing has hiccups now..the days of smooth instant translation allowing anybody to talk to anybody is not far away.

Excellent. I own a 5 year old Lumia, and it is as responsive as ever. I want to change my phone once this one conks out, but so far, it has declined to do so. Charge it once a day, and works well in desi conditions (noisy background, auto screen brightness, etc.), and has a good design language (firm grip, not too heavy, not too light, well placed controls, etc.). Only sign of age is greater battery usage when on bluetooth speaker or music. It has fallen on the floor a few times, all it needed was a reboot and all was well, save a few dents along the edges.

Will get a new Nokia onlee next.

[Added l8r] That Nokia 9 looks too samsungish, though.

So here is the breakdown of Pixel 2 prices in India, available exclusively via Flipkart
Pixel 2 (64GB): Rs 61,000 (~$950 USD)
Pixel 2 (128GB): Rs 70,000 (~$1,075 USD)
Pixel 2 XL (64GB): Rs 73,000 (~$1,122 USD)
Pixel 2 XL (128GB): Rs 82,000 (~$1,260 USD)
If any of my family wanted a new iPhone & Pixel 2, I will need to put up my organs for sale on blackmarket to buy them the above phones. Sure are expensive for an uneventful & mundane products.

I will use my N4 till death and after that go for whatever latest below 20K Moto G. Not a heavy phone user anyways. I would prefer to spend the above kinda money on a powerful laptop through which I can get more value.

Didn't they already have that in Skype in 2015-16? There is still some latency, its like talking thru an interpreter listening in on the call and accuracy is not as good as an human interpreter.

As per tech blogs, in true Chacha style Chacha is now ditching VR to focus on AR. That too phone based AR which became fashionable a few years ago and rapidly became unfashionable a few years-1 ago. You can't make this stuff make up.

Using Motorola G5 plus. So far so good. Dual Sim plus memory card including NFC works well with android pay.

Look at Asus Zenfone 3 with sd625. Very good hardware for about 12k now used to be 22k at launch. It's sd625 dual sim 3GB ram cell with sdcard support n very good build quality and not Chinese.

I saw the samsung S8+ and S8 at a mobile shop. What good looking phones ? Though they have large screen they still fit inside a pocket very well due to their design. I think it is a better design than the appal.

My FIL uses the old popular nokia model the basic one >12 years old. still works well except for a little weak in volume esp in outside Indian raods etc when it is little difficult to hear.
