look at Bengali language. The TFR of west Bengal is ~1.6. But the numbers have risen-- ?? bangladeshis and rohingyas added to the mix in north east and other parts of India.

Maybe...what is TFR of the 4 southern states? If they are less than 1.6, it can just be that %age-wise Bengali has gone up. Bangla language was always 2nd highest in India after Hindi.

Actual count of Bengali speakers will be 25 million less. Since it is a census it will include Bengalis plus Bdeshis.

Marathi has gone up as well. From 6.99 to 7.04. Drop in Urdu is quite sharp.

Wish the urdu in bollywood goes down too, its getting too much. Can't remember the last time I heard a genuinely good bhajan in a Hindi movie compared to the Alan Tyler and maula maula in every second movie.

What Asset Type/Market Cap you are looking at?

Equity >> Large Cap/Small & Mid Cap
Debt
Balanced

If your investment horizon is > 5 years, Smallcap is the best (HDFC Small Cap/SBI SmallCap/Reliance Small Cap/Franklin India Smaller Companies/DSP Blackrock Small Cap etc.)

Don't go by last 6 months return, they will be mostly negative due to the correction happening in small cap stocks, over the longer term they give a healthy return.

Yup small-mid cap. Would like to have growth stocks in the portfolio, hence 5 10 years horizon.

I (We) had a special subject called Moral Science when we were studying.
Civics is what we studied. No moral valence.

I had moral science class too (in one of the convent schools). Its been around for ages. Probably they do away with it in higher standards/classes.

I too had Moral Education. But then I went to a DAV. We used to learn all kinds of mantras and shlokas.

gathered from wanderings on the net

IF YOU BELIEVE in numerology, here is something for you to chew on. A friend WhatsApped the following the other day: in the current Lok Sabha, the strength of the respective parties is: BJP: 283, 2+8+3 = 13; NDA: 337, 3+3+7= 13; UPA: 58, 5+8= 13; Others: 148, 1+4+8= 13. And what follows is even more astounding. Apparently, Nostradamus had predicted a good 450 years ago the coming of the Modi era which would result in a complete transformation of India. How credible that sounds is best left to individual judgement

When you visit BGR and BRF (after the split) nowadays, they just look a shadow of the past glory days. Its ironical that this had to happen during the most exciting of times that the forum had waited for so long - in Modi raj

Posters make or break a forum, not the forum itself.

Yes, I agree for most part. I feel BRF did not move with the times, the forum structure was too rigid and the forum look & feel got stale. Hardly any suggestions from posters would be implemented.

When last September something happened causing the owners to get rid of all discussions about Indian politics it was a shocker. What kind of Indian political forum would it be where you could not discuss Indian politics? Nukkad was good to have but not essential. For me and for many posters, we are not interested in discussing the finer points of weaponry and we gradually migrated away.

BGF allows more discussion, but it suffers from lack of visibility while BRF is a known name.

Indeed. THe political thread here (to discuss ALL politics) gets about 3-4 posts a day on average, and at times just one. But in a way it is good. I used to spend hours on BRF everyday, now that has come down hugely.
GIven that BGF is outside the burqua and you never know who might drop in for a look. You get some interesting characters dropping in. But one thing for sure.....come election time, the poltix thread picks up and there is a ton of discussion and argument (including methods of Praveen Patil etc.) . Also you know that if you have a non-frivolous question and post it, it will likely get answered. BRF core threads seem to be doing fine- LCA, MRCA, Arjun etc. EVen the 2 other groups have a couple of threads each that do OK i.e. commentary on major news. The biggest thing for me (with BRF and BGF) is that if there is some major event, you can come here to get a good perspective(s) rather than just read the biased articles in media.

Uday Express from Bengaluru to Coimbatore is a treat for passengers

11th June 2018

BENGALURU: Rail passengers who took the Uday Utkrisht Double-decker air-conditioned Yatri Express train on its maiden journey from Bengaluru to Coimbatore at 2.15 pm on Saturday were a delighted lot with the conveniences on offer. The train reached its destination at 9pm the same day.

For the first time, they had on offer a train equipped with hygienic toilets, WiFi connectivity, GPS, automated food vending machines that were placed in individual coaches, and semi sleeper seats that provided more comfort. The train also has LCD screens in each compartment that display passenger details and information about upcoming railway stations. All this for a fare of Rs 610.

Most passengers onboard were impressed by the cleanliness, a boon for those tired of unhygienic conditions in most Indian trains.Raghunath M, a 35-year-old post office employee from Coimbatore, said, “The toilets in the train are spotless and each compartment has a dustbin unlike any other train.”Ramu R, a 45-year-old private finance company employee travelling to Coimbatore, said, “It is well-designed and spacious unlike other trains operating from the state.”

However, some passengers were not too happy, especially senior citizens. A 60-year-old woman said, “Sleeper coaches should be introduced so that older people can sleep as it takes almost seven hours to reach Coimbatore.”

Her fellow passenger, a lecturer at an engineering college in Bengaluru, said, “There is insufficient space between the luggage rack and the seats below and this becomes a problem for tall people who might hit their head when they stand on the top deck.”

The express runs at a speed of 160 km/hour and completes the 378km in seven hours. Except Mondays, the train will operate on all the other days with stops at Tirupur, Erode and Salem.

Cohen is flipping, looks like. Hiring Clinton loyalist, releasing tape, saying country and family comes first etc were all hinting at it.

Manafort is holding steady. Probably will never flip.
