this is one venomous political snake that has come full circle

Naya Nitish: Seeks votes in name of Modi, says PM will develop Bihar

Naya Nitish: Seeks votes in name of Modi, says PM will develop Bihar

Amid slogans of “Modi, Modi” from the crowd, Nitish said people had come to the rally to listen only to Modi, and said his efforts in controlling the Covid-19 were “exceptional”.

MARKING a full circle from the time he had refused to share stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday sought votes in his name. With his vikas plank not cutting ice with voters, Nitish devoted his speech here to works undertaken by the Centre in Bihar and said Modi would ensure the state was developed if the NDA was voted back to power.

Praising Modi profusely and thanking him for “taking time out” to campaign, Nitish said, “Listen to his appeal. If you give the NDA one more chance, then you can be sure he will transform the state. Bihar will march ahead.” The CM referred to Patna Metro, Smart Cities plan, the Ujjwala scheme and roads in Bihar while applauding the PM’s “generosity”.

Earlier in the 2009 Lok Sabha and 2010 Assembly polls, when he was the Gujarat CM, Modi had kept out of Bihar during NDA campaigns reportedly at Nitish’s behest. At a 2010 public meeting Nitish had said, “When there is Sushil Modi in Bihar, there is no need of another Modi (Narendra) here.” He had even cancelled a scheduled NDA dinner in 2010 in Patna over Modi’s presence.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Saturday issued a stern warning against the miscreants indulging in love jihad

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday issued a stern warning to the miscreants indulging in love jihad by concealing their identities and entrapping girls and women in their relationship. Promising to curb the love jihad menace, Yogi assured that a new law will be enacted and advised the errants to mend their ways or be prepared for their “Ram Naam Satya” journey.

“Allahabad HC said religious conversion isn’t necessary for marriage. Govt will also work to curb ‘Love-Jihad’, we’ll make a law. I warn those who conceal identity & play with our sisters’ respect, if you don’t mend your ways your ‘Ram Naam satya’ journey will begin,” Yogi said at a meeting Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur.

Yogi’s remarks came on the heels of the Allahabad High Court order which invalidated religious conversion just for the sake of marriage. The court made the comments after finding that a woman had converted her religion just a month before her marriage and performed her wedding ceremonies and rituals as per her newly adopted faith. On Friday, the Allahabad High Court held that conversion of religion just for the purpose of marriage is not legal.

Menace of ‘love jihad’ continues to afflict Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is plagued with a rising number of ‘love jihad’ cases where Muslim men deliberately conceal their religious identities, often by portraying themselves as non-Muslims, and lure unwitting non-Muslim women into having a relationship with them and subsequently marrying them. On most occasions, the girl is later harassed or killed when she confronts the man for hiding his religion. Sometimes, the women are also forced to convert to Islam, failing which they are tortured.

With the increasing spate of love jihad cases emanating from Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has decided to root out the menace, by bringing a law that criminalises ‘love jihad’. Last month, it was speculated that the Uttar Pradesh government is mulling over passing an ordinance against forced religious conversions in the backdrop of more than 20 love jihad cases being reported from various parts of the state.

The law against religious conversions serves to prevent people from converting others, either by ‘allurements’, ‘force’ or ‘fraudulent’ means. The UP’s law would be similar in nature to the laws enacted by other states, making religious conversions arduous and complex, the source privy to the details of ordinance had then revealed.

Kanpur amongst the worst-affected city due to love-jihad
While cases of love jihad have been reported across the state, Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur has been emerging as the epicentre of ‘organised love jihad’ cases. There have been several cases of forced conversions of women on the pretext of marriage reported from the city that it has fuelled suspicions about a new model of entrapping Hindu women gaining a foothold in the city.

Following the much-publicised Shalini Yadav case, another case of ‘love jihad’ had come to the fore. A Hindu family had lodged a complaint at the local police station in Govind Nagar, Kanpur, accusing a Muslim youth named Asif Shah alias Nafiz of brainwashing their daughter with the help of occult practices, physically abusing her, threatening and intimidating her to convert into Islam and marry her.

Similarly, one more ‘love jihad’ case was reported recently, where a 14-year-old Hindu girl was allegedly trapped by a Muslin youth pretending to be Hindu. The incident was reported in Kanpur’s Gopal Nagar. The victim’s family, with the help of Bajrang Dal State Secretary Ramji Tiwari, approached the police on Monday with a complaint and sought action against the accused- Fateh Khan alias Aryan Mehrotra.

Earlier in September 2020, the Kanpur Police had formed an eight-member Special Investigation Team(SIT) to investigate the rising number of forced conversions done on the pretext of marriage. As many as 11 cases of ‘love jihad’ had come to light from the same district in the span of 30 days.

Pappu, I would like to see is become somewhat of a laughingstock. However, he is back by powerful international agencies I feel. There is, plenty of evidence with regard to previous statements from Wikileaks regarding support to Sonia Gandhi and indirectly Rahul.
We all know of his frequent vacationing in Italy as well as mistresses. I understand that he and Sonia have a private villa with their own chapel where they pray. Hey, everybody needs to getaway to avoid the stress and I can understand that. Funny thing is why do you need to make it so secret?

We have tried to do what we can in bringing such issues to light. I mean how many times can the pseudo-secular agencies claim against love Jihad? It is clearly becoming on such a ridiculous level almost to the point of "there is no Islamic terrorism". How many times does it take, to try and sink in and still hear the same old narrative. Watching NDTV today and Sarah Jacob, she has often referenced her own personal life of marrying an Indian Punjabi. However there is a huge distinct difference when it comes to Islamic marriages. I don't know anything about Sarah Jacob and what her intentions are right now, but clearly there is a huge nexus with regard to conversion on any level.

Thanks Muns, I was there for 2 hours. I talked each and everyone there. Her neighbours said that she was very bright student. she wants to be an IAS officer or Army officer. Her father was jus sitting in my side he was crying only. Mamaji told that it happens in 2018 also. The guy kidnapped her and take her to some unknown place but somehow police take an action. They was very under pressure because family of the boy was in politics. yusufs mom said to a media if girl become muslim then she must be alive. still you can see how family is supporting culprit. It is very sad that if a hindu boy love a muslim girl he got killed and if a girl does not accept Islam she got killed. on the another hand they play victim card being minorities. some media channel and magazines are running there agenda as well. But we are really focusing on these stories and want to make Hindu youth aware.

The level of coverage on DDM of US elections is staggering. And what takes the cake is the level of exaggeration of the impact of Indian American (IA) vote. I mean IA vote is disparate and dispersed that there is marginal effect at best. Only impact any IA would have is the level of moolah he/she does out to either Trump or Biden. Both have IA donors.

Most puke worthy analysis came from that clown K.C. Singh who is a rabid NodiJi hater. Guy is not just speculating, but urging Biden/Harris, should they win, to be hard on India on so called "human rights' (meaning Kashmir). I am suspicious of this guy. He has many times said that India have a loose center state federation with a lot of autonomy to states. So I reckon he wants 370 style quazi independence to all states including his own Punjab. And hence his anger at ModiJi for revoking 370 and urging USA to meddle in India's internal affairs under the guise of 'human rights'

Alibaug Court rejects Mumbai Police plea seeking custody of Arnab Goswami, grants judicial custody and asks to keep bail papers ready

per reports, these keystone cops seem to have acted illegally in breaking into arnab's house, dragging him out and arresting him

The senior journalist was arrested after Mumbai police reopened a 2018 case which was earlier closed after police found no evidence against Arnab Goswami. Most importantly, the judge also observed that the closed case was re-opened by police without consent from court.

A Mumbai court rejected the Mumbai police plea seeking 14 days of police custody of Arnab Goswami, who was arrested today morning in an old closed case. After a hearing that went into the midnight, the Alibaug Court granted 14 days of judicial custody for the Republic TV editor-in-chief, which means the Mumbai police won’t be able to interrogate him in its custody.

— Republic (@republic) November 4, 2020

Arnab Goswami was arrested on Wednesday morning by a large team of police wielding AK-47 Assault rifles. After he was initially presented before the court, the court had ordered his medical examination as he was injured in the assault by the police. After the medical exam, he was presented before the court again at around 4.45 PM by the Mumbai police, which sought police remand for 14 days.

The senior journalist was arrested after Mumbai police reopened a 2018 case which was earlier closed after police found no evidence against Arnab Goswami. In that case, one Anvay Naik had committed suicide in 2018, and had left a suicide note saying that Arnab Goswami and two other persons owed him money which they were refusing to pay, and due to resultant financial crisis, he is ending his life. But Republic had rejected the claim, saying that it has made the payments as per the contract.

The Mumbai police had claimed that they have obtained fresh evidence in the case which was closed by a court in 2018, and had argued that they need Arnab Goswami’s custody to further probe the case.

But after a marathon hearing of more than 6 hours, the court rejected the demand of police custody, and send him to judicial custody of 14 days.

The court said that there is no justifiable ground to ask for police custody in the case. The court observed that there is no chain showing nexus between the suicide and the role of Arnab Goswami. Most importantly, the judge also observed that the closed case was re-opened by police without consent from court.

After the midnight verdict by the court, Arnab Goswami said, ‘The Police has lost’.

According to Republic TV reports, the court also asked the lawyer of Arnab Goswami to keep his bail papers ready tomorrow. The Alibaug Court will hear his bail plea tomorrow morning.

In the meanwhile, the Bombay High Court will hear a petition of Arnab Goswami seeking to quash the case in the 2018 abetment of suicide case. The court will also hear the petition or Republic TV against Mumbai police trying to implicate in the TRP manipulation case by shielding the India Today channel, which was originally named in the complaint and the FIR in the TRP case.

Absolutely, uNDTV pretty much the whole day was giving insight analysis into specific counties in various states. Hard to believe the kind of coverage that it has been getting. However, from what it seems, Biden is pulling quite a bit ahead in the race. Not sure what this will really mean for India US relations. I don’t think, Indian US relations are anywhere like they were 10 years ago.

The equal equal India Pakistan BS, I think has been finally given its death sentence. That too with Americans definitely being much more aggressive towards China because of the pandemic crisis. Let’s also not forget that the Western world finally is waking up to the Grim Reaper of Islamic terrorism.
Kamala Harris may be half Indian, but really not putting any eggs in that basket.

What is really disturbing is how the Shiv Sena and Uddhav Thackeray and son have completely gone against Hindu ethos in blind lust for power. What has been done to Arnab, is disgusting to say the least. Also, funnily enough not one international media house has taken this up to report. I don’t really see any crying from Bollywood either. I think that the BJP has been giving this time to implode on its own. Sending forces into Maharashtra would definitely aggravate the crisis and give a escape lifeline to the Uddhav Thackeray. By doing this he has destroyed his own future and the great Maratha party. Thankfully what will now happen I feel is most Marathas will simply join the BJP.

the sly chinese hand is behind this move as they coordinate to begin the process of jointly increasing pressures on India.

there may be a trade off that may well be proposed quietly by the pakis via their lootyens contacts pushing the canard of "aman ki tamasha" in terms of increased access to Indian products like farm produce, medicines, vaccines and cross border trade in cashmere as well to revert to status quo ante.

the paki awam is on the verge of erupting due to high prices and scarcity of everyday items like vegetables and other food items

amarinder is playing a dirty double game as indeed are the congis.

Imran Khan snatches control of Kartarpur Sahib from Sikh body for the first time, hands it over to govt body headed by Muhammad Tariq Khan

This is for the first time that Pakistan’s Sikh Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee has lost management rights of the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib

5 November, 2020

Pakistan's spy arrested in Gurdaspur, was sending photos and vital information on Kartarpur corridor

Merely one year into the opening of the Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib, Imran Khan-led Pakistan government has officially taken over full control of it by snatching the rights of management from Pakistan’s Sikh Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee (PSGPC) and giving it to a Muslim body.

According to the Pakistan Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Gurudwara will now be managed by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB). The ETPB is a statutory board of the Government of Pakistan, headed by Muhammad Tariq Khan which manages religious properties and shrines of Hindus and Sikhs in Pakistan.

This is for the first time that Pakistan’s Sikh Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee has lost management rights of the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. The move comes just ahead of PSGPC planning to organise the first anniversary of the Kartarpur Gurudwara opening on November 9.

According to a notification issued on November 3: “Consequent upon the approval of Project Management Unit (PMU) Kartarpur Corridor by ECC of the Cabinet, and ratified by the Cabinet (conveyed by MoRA…dated 23.10.2020), the competent authority has been pleased to establish Project Management Unit (PMU), a self-financing body, for Management and Maintenance of Gurdwara Dardar Sahib Kartarpur (GADSK) under the administrative control of ETPB.”

“All officers/ official…are relieved from their duties with immediate effect with directions to join their new place of posting forthwith.”

On behalf of the global Sikh community, Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa strongly condemned the move. “It’s unfortunate that Pakistan cabinet has handed over Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur’s management to an ISI organisation ETPB from Pakistan Gurudwara Committee, which is a Sikh organisation. A non-Sikh body will control historic Gurudwara”, ANI quoted Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa as saying. Sirsa has demanded that the right of sewa be given back to the Sikh committee.

Former union cabinet minister and Akali Dal member, Harsimrat Kaur Badal called Pakistan’s decision “outrageous” and “unacceptable” and urged PM Modi to take up the matter with Imran Khan to ensure Sikh body’s right to manage the shrine be restored at the earliest.

Unacceptable, outrageous! Sikhs are aghast that @GovtofPakistan has handed over control of gurdwara Sri KartarpurSahib to Islamic body ETBP. Last year, Pakistan had insisted on charging a service fee for allowing pilgrims to visit Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, which India had strongly opposed. However, the two sides did agree on visa-free travel for pilgrims and allowing Indians holding the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards to visit Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib through the corridor. This was during the second meeting on the Kartarpur Corridor issue between the two countries after the abrogation of Article 370. Amidst tensions between the two countries, it was reported earlier that the Pakistani establishment wants to revive Khalistani terrorism through the corridor.

MunsJi, UnDy is such a shameless channel that they come across more as a western slavish channel looking at the rest of India from an 'orientalist' PoV just like west does. Anyway, need your investigative help with one thing :-). And we discussed on BR as well. One of Undy's anchor, Nidhi Razdan, is introduced nowadays as a "Harvard Professor". Many speculated that since she has very little academic credentials if any, there seems to be some political or some agenda driven motives to her appointment at such a prestigious univ. Also, some suggested that she is not with Harvard proper but with Harvard extension where faculty have professorial titles. But the mystery is that Harvard nor extension have any mention of her name on their faculty directory. So I am curious to understand whats the agenda here. Note she is part of Lutyen mafia who says all the 'wonderful;' things against ModiJi that white elites love to hear. And she also has the token Kashmir connection and more often speaks from a separatist PoV than an Indian PoV.

Coming to Arnab, what is happening to him is despicable beyond belief. Pappu's slaves have decided that they need to teach him a lesson. Hope he is not being tortured in custody. Very shameful that a nationalist anchor like him is subjugated while a BJP govt with full majority is in power, and all they can do so issue toothless condemnation of Pappu and his Sena. I am no big fan of Arnab, but my full support and sympathy to Arnab for the brazen cruelty inflicted on him by Pappu and his Sena. I won't be surprised if they cause immense physical harm to him. And BJP is sitting by and watching all this. Imagine how the BIF ecosystem would have sprung into action had Undy or India Today or Scroll would have been targeted like this.

NCP wants former CM Devendra Fadnavis to be made co-accused in the suicide case along with ‘BJP worker’ Arnab Goswami, Congress cheers

OpIndia Staff | 5 November, 2020

The politics around Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami’s arrest in an old case is getting murkier by the day. After arresting Goswami in a closed case of 2018, the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition government in Maharashtra is now dragging state opposition leader and former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis’ name in the case. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) which is a part of the state coalition government has demanded Fadnavis be made a co-accused in the 2018 case of suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik.

NCP calls Arnab Goswami a BJP worker
NCP Spokesperson Umesh Patil claimed that Naik’s family was pressurised to close the case by the Home Ministry which at that time was under BJP leader and then-CM Devendra Fadnavis. Referring to the allegations made by Naik’s wife and daughter in a press conference held yesterday, Patil said, “From the press conference of Naik’s family, it has become clear that pressure was put on them to sign papers related to the closure of the suicide case. Since at that time, the Home Ministry portfolio was with then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he should be made a co-accused in the case. The police officials who tried to pressure Naik family should also be made co-accused”.

He said that the NCP has sought investigation in the entire episode as the Naik family has alleged that they were made to sign papers in the office of a joint commissioner of police. He questioned as to why the accused (Arnab Goswami) was not arrested when he was specifically named in the suicide note of Naik.

Patil further attacked BJP for supporting Arnab Goswami and called Goswami a “BJP worker”. He said, “In Uttar Pradesh when a journalist wrote an article, she was charged under the Atrocities Act. BJP leaders and ministers never came forward to support her. Similarly, several journalists have been arrested in the country but BJP never took their side”.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik described Arnab Goswami’s arrest as “Part II of India’s Most Wanted Anchor”

Shiv Sena raised questions on the investigation in suicide case
Shiv Sena leader Neelam Gorhe also raised questions on the investigation of the suicide case and demanded action against ‘guilty’ police officers. “There is a need for a proper investigation into the allegations made by the Naik family. It seems there was pressure to suppress the facts and prevent the arrest of the three accused. If the police officers were found guilty, action should also be taken against them”, Gorhe said.

Congress termed Arnab Goswami’s arrest as a true tribute to Naik
State Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant described Arnab Goswami’s arrest as “true tribute to Anvay Naik” and accused the previous BJP-led government of suppressing the case for two years. “For two years, the Devendra Fadnavis-led government suppressed the case. Threats were given and pressure put on Nail family. Therefore, Congress demands that an investigation be conducted to find the other culprits in the case”, Sawant said. He alleged that special treatment was being given to Goswami as his statement was recorded in Mumbai and not in Alibaug. Sawant alleged that Naik family was threatened with dire consequences and was pressurised to withdraw the case.

Arnab Goswami dragged, beaten, arrested in a 2018 case that was closed earlier
After being manhandled at his residence by Raigad police cops who came to arrest him at his house yesterday in relation to a two-year old closed case, Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami has filed a plea before the Bombay High Court challenging his arrest by the police. Mumbai Police have started re-investigation in the 2018 closed case of interior designer Anvay Naik’s suicide on the direction of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

Apart from this, a fresh FIR was registered against him alleging that he had assaulted a female cop when he was being dragged out his house by Mumbai police. A similar FIR was registered against his wife, son and two others on the allegations of assaulting cops who came to arrest him.

90 per cent payment made to interior designer’s company: Arnab Goswami in his HC plea
Goswami has claimed in his petition that ARG Outlier Media Pvt Ltd, the firm that owns and operates Republic TV, had paid 90% of the dues to deceased Anvay Naik’s company Concorde Designs Pvt. Ltd. (CDPL) over two years ago. He further said that ARG Outlier media Pvt Ltd made several attempts for complete and final settlement of all claims but the absence of shareholders or directors in CDPL rendered the attempts unsuccessful. He said that the entire amount due to CDPL was transferred to CDPL’s bank account in July 2019 but it was reverted because the account was inoperative.

In his plea, Goswami denied having any direct involvement with the deceased interior designer and contended that his interaction with the deceased regarding the payments was strictly professional in nature. For the reasons provided in the plea, he further contended that a case of abetment of suicide under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code was not made out against him.

“It is a settled principle of law that to attract ingredients of abetment, the intention of the accused to aid or instigate or abet the deceased to commit suicide is necessary. In the present case, by no stretch of imagination can it be said that there existed an intention to aid, instigate or abet the deceased to commit suicide on the part of the petitioner…”, the petition read. It was further contended in the petition, “Moreover, for the provisions of section 306 to be attached, the direct involvement of the accused in the abetment of suicide is necessary. In the present case, the petitioner did not have any direct involvement with the abetment. Merely because a person has been named in the suicide note, one cannot jump to the conclusion that he is an offender under section 306 of the IPC”.

Absolutely, uNDTV pretty much the whole day was giving insight analysis into specific counties in various states. Hard to believe the kind of coverage that it has been getting.

CRamS, I have asked Saurabh to see what he can do with regard to investigative journalism India as well as our contacts. However, I would be the first to admit to that our contacts do not extend to NDTV at this stage. Needless to say, I will leave it to him to find and report on what he might have discovered in a few conversations.

With regard to Arnab, my guess is that after this the Shiv Sena will become completely irrelevant in Maharashtra. What Uddhav has effectively done I feel is deal deathknell to the great Maratha party of Bal Thackeray. With all the solid gains that the BJP has made not only nationally with Ayodhya but also internationally and with regard to striking against all of our neighbors that have dared to challenges. This includes striking across borders into Pakistan as well as the Myanmyar. Not only that, we have effectively dealt with the Chinese so that to a large extent, mucus diarrhea is a more common phenomenon on the Chinese border.

After effectively dealing with all of our neighbors with the Warhammer, I do not think that Maharashtra would be too much of a concern. I really feel that time is being played to really increase the anti-coalition sentiment government among the people in Maharashtra. Already people on the street have realized that Uddhav is nothing but a pawn and is only allying with the Abrahamic Devil for power. I’m fairly sure in the next elections they will be crushed. Why give them any kind of space by creating the situation we have to invade Mumbai to rescue Arnab. Uddhav would be a fool to recognize any harm to him. It may even cost him his life… I think he recognizes this.

I am disappointed with the exit poll results in Bihar. No doubt Nitish Kumar can be a snake, and he has to take responsibility for the debacle (assuming exit polls are on target), but it also seems the BJP/ModiJi magic did not work out. So BIF is going to seize on this and hit ModiJi pretty hard. Add that to Biden Harris win in US, they will make this oblique, specious link between US and India, how both Trump and ModiJi have been rejected for their "Islamophobia" and "fascism" and such.

From a Pappu standpoint, even if that joker didn't win anything, the air of negativity around BJP/ModiJi suits him just fine. Recall, that one the eve of Lok Sabha election results in 2019, Pappu pollsters were expecting to win about 100 seats, and with that itself there were so gleeful that his slaves were busy stitching alliances with regional pipsqueaks to install him as PM as part of maha gatbhandan in anticipation of a BJP loss. Of course, their dreams were shattered then, but still alive.

This latest embarrassment for BJP follows the loss in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Delhi. Hope Bengal reverses this thread.

MunsJi,

On Arnab, what scares the living s@it out of me is the ruthlessness of the BIF ecosystem. How they can scream FOE when it suits them, use FOE to hammer ModiJi, establish negative narratives etc., and all that evaporates the moment someone equally hard hitting from the other side uses FOE to attack them.

Imagine if they were to ever retain power, how much fascism they will unleash? A childhood Christian friend of mine who now lines in UK and is well connected the Lutyens ecosystem once bragged to me that when Pappu & Co come back to power, they will declare (with US/UK help) RSS a 'terrorist' org. This may be far fetched I don't know, but the ruthlessness with which they went after Arnab and humiliated him (possibly torturing and breaking his will in jail) and not even a whimper of guilt or shame from the votaries of FOE tells how ruthlessly they can destroy Dharmic forces.

And I am not one of those who blame BJP/ModiJI for not standing up to these evil people, but if this is the fate of nationalists when BJP has such a majority, imagine what will happen if these string of losses in state elections pile up?

All exit polls and surveys are saying that jungle raj will be back in Bihar. People are voting for 9th fail Teju. He is going to decide the future of Bihar. But I think Nitish has done lots of mistakes. He was always against lojpa. Chirag Paswan has cut only Nitish votes and this Mahafraudgathbandhan has taken advantage. Modi magic is not working because Bihar seems to bore with Nitish Kumar. Channel is showing that jungle raj is coming but let's wait for the counting day maybe results will be in favor.

Guys, am I missing something? This total lack of any action by central BJP leadership against Arnab's arrest and torture and humiliation is mystifying. Is it a lull before the storm and something cooking underneath? But optics are not good. I see SM full of vitriol against ModiJi and BJP for inaction.

With Arnab Goswami facing multiple FIRs and remaining in jail, here is how the cases against some other journalists were handled by courts

While most journalists were able to get immediate relief from courts in various cases, some of them were not that lucky

8 November, 2020
OpIndia Staff

With Arnab Goswami failing to get a relief from Bombay High Court, the possibility of the Republic TV Editor-in-Chief approaching Supreme Court has increased. Although he will initially approach the sessions court for his bail, he has been hounded by several cases by Mumbai police, and it is likely that those cases will eventually end up at the apex court. It that context, it is pertinent to revise how the cases involving other journalists progressed at various courts, including the Supreme Court.

HW News journalist Vinod Dua, accused in a sedition case, filed a petition in the Supreme Court in June, 2020. The Supreme Court was pleased to schedule a special sitting and hear the matter on Sunday. The Court was further inclined to issue Notice in a petition filed under Article 32 despite there being a more than efficacious remedy for quashing of FIR under section 482 CrPC being available to Vinod Dua.

The apex Court had promptly granted relief against arrest and subsequently granted relief from even participating in the investigation. Effectively the Supreme Court ensured that no effective investigation takes place against Vinod Dua in the FIR registered in Himachal Pradesh.

Previously, Vinod Dua had approached Delhi High Court in an FIR registered by Delhi Police seeking quashing of the FIR. The Delhi High Court was pleased to directly stay the entire FIR and subsequently, quashed the same.

A case was been registered against Vinod Dua by a local BJP leader Ajay Shyam in Shimla for making false allegations against BJP, especially Prime Minister Modi on his YouTube show on March 30. On the basis of the complaint, Dua was summoned by the police in Himachal for questioning. However, the controversial journalist had used his health, age and lockdown protocols as an excuse to evade questioning and did not turn up at the Kumarsain police station. A similar complaint was also registered against in Delhi accusing him of misreporting the Delhi riots and also on charges of creating a public nuisance by false reporting.

Vinod Dua was charged under sections 124A (sedition), 268 (public nuisance), 501 (printing matter known to be defamatory) and 505 (statements conducive to public mischief). On the other hand, he claims that he has been targeted for criticising the govt.

When the UP police registered an FIR against Siddharth Varadhrajan of The WIRE form spreading fake news about Yogi Adityanath, the Allahabad High Court had promptly granted anticipatory bail to him. The FIR was filed after the Founder-Editor of The Wire had took quotes of an expelled mahant and misattributed them to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. As he had refused to delete the fake news from his Twitter handle despite requested by UP govt, the govt had proceeded to take action against him. But he had managed to secure protection from the High Court.

Similarly, when journalist Dhaval Patel, editor of a Gujarat website called Face of Nation, was arrested in Gujarat on charges of sedition, the Sessions Courts in Gujarat was pleased to grant bail. The court had said that the FIR and other documents filed by the police did not appear to establish the charge of sedition.

The FIR was filed after the website by Patel had published a news claiming that Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani may be replaced with union minister Mansukh Mandaviya, because the state administration poorly handled the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic. While a court had sent him to police custody saying he tried to destabilise the govt by spreading fake news about change in leadership, the sessions court said that the charges were not proved, and hence had granted him bail.

In a similar case, Supreme Court had stayed an FIR registered against Yogesh Kumar Holkar in October this year. The journalist had covered the 2018 Bharat Bandh protests in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, while the police had accused him of participating in the protests.

Yogesh Kumar Holkar is a journalist for local newspaper ‘Dainik Chambal Surkhi’, and a total of five FIRs were registered him. When he had approached the High Court to quash the FIRs, the court had refused to so, because the trial had already started in the case. After that when he approached the Supreme Court, the court accepted his plea and granted stay in the FIR. The apex court had also stayed further proceedings in the case, even though it was being heard by trial court.

Contrast the same with the case against four journalists from West Bengal and Maharashtra. When the journalists approached the Supreme Court with evidence of corruption by high level functionaries including ministers along with the sting operations conducted by them, multiple FIRs were registered against journalists Bhupendra Pratap Singh, Abhishek Singh, Hemant Chowrasia and Ayush Kumar Singh by the West Bengal police. But apart from granting protection from arrest, the Supreme Court has not thought it fit to list the matter for the past six months. The Kolkata Police had booked the journalists in January alleging that the sting operation was a bid to extort money from politicians.

The said journalists were in fact directed by the Supreme Court to cooperate with a vindictive state machinery and had to flee the state to avoid being persecuted under some other criminal proceeding. Despite there being ample evidence of high-level corruption, and a specific request being made to transfer the cases to the CBI, there has been no movement on that front. The journalists had approached the Supreme Court after the High Court had rejected their plea, saying that the sting operation was still a criminal act even if it was for public interest.

Similarly, when more than 200 FIRs with verbatim text were registered against Arnab Goswami and he approached the Supreme Court in relation to the Palghar lynching episode, the court declined to quash the FIR and merely consolidated the same in Mumbai and relegated the case to be heard by the Bombay high Court. When the Maharashtra Police filed another FIR against Arnab Goswami and Republic TV in relation to the purported TRP Scam, Republic TV moved Supreme Court seeking protection from arrest. Despite seeking urgent mentioning and listing of the matter, the petition was listed only after some time had elapsed and the court declined to intervene observing that it would be appropriate for the petitioner to approach the Bombay High Court.

Again, when Arnab Goswami was arrested by Mumbai police in the old case which was closed by court, the Bombay High Court refused to grant him interim relief, saying they need to hear the entire case even for granting bail. This is despite the fact the CJM court which had declined police remand of Goswami observed that police erred by reopening the case without taking necessary permission from court.

Chetak, something is remiss here. I cannot believe that BJP leadership is just sitting by and watching this. I know if they act, they entire Lutyen ecosystem will spring into action and allege BJP fascism against Maharashtra govt or some such wild allegations. Also, any action by ModiJi might even attrat the attention of UN and US Congress (now that ComeAllah is in power) at the behest of BIF, but despite all that BJP has to act if we have to decisively take on this BIF ecosystem.

wow, mylapore mama and mylapore maami,

both share a connection to Madras.

#DidYouKnow President Elect @JoeBiden has an ancestral connect with India?

Reupping Tim Willasey-Wilsey, @warstudies

@KingsCollegeLon's article which gives an in-depth analysis on brothers Christopher & William Biden who worked for East India company:

Biden’s ancestral Chennai connect

31 AUGUST 2020, Gateway House

Biden’s ancestral Chennai connect

U.S. presidential candidate Joe Biden has an ancestral connect with India, as does his vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris, both tracing it back to Chennai, then Madras. During the 19th century, brothers Christopher and William Biden worked for the East India company, taking the rather arduous ship route between London and India. While William died at an early age, Christopher went on to Captain several ships during his service and eventually settled down to a prosperous life in Madras.

Kamala Harris spoke movingly of her discussions with her grandfather P.V.Gopalan as they walked along the beach at Chennai. It now appears that her running-mate Joe Biden may also have ancestors who strolled along the same stretch of sand two centuries before.

Joe Biden first made the claim of an Indian connection in 2013. Two years later he elaborated that he was descended from George Biden, his “great, great, great, great, great grandfather” who was a Captain in the East India Company. After retirement George Biden decided to settle in India and married an Indian woman.

There are no records of a George Biden in India but there were two Bidens who became Captains of East India Company armed merchant ships (known as Indiamen). They were brothers. Both started out as humble Third and Fourth Mates in their early teens on the arduous route between London and India via the Cape of Good Hope. It was dangerous and uncomfortable work but the prospect of advancement made it attractive for sons of financially distressed but aspirational families. William Henry Biden started out in the Midas (414 tons). Eventually he would command the ships Anna Robertson, Ganges and Thalia (570 tons) before he died of “apoplexy” (a stroke) at Rangoon on 25th March 1843 aged 51. His were relatively minor cargo ships which traded mainly in Asian waters. His older brother Christopher Biden, by contrast, became a well-known figure in Madras (modern Chennai) for many years and he did settle in India.

Christopher began as a Fourth Mate. By 1807 he was sailing in the 1333 ton Royal George which made seven return voyages to India before 1818. By 1815 he had become its Chief Mate. In 1821 he became Captain of the Princess Charlotte of Wales (978 tons) and made four return journeys between England and Calcutta (modern Kolkata). He also captained the new Royal George (1426 tons) on one voyage. Each return journey lasted a year. Apart from being extremely gruelling each trip provided the opportunity for significant personal enrichment. In 1830 he retired from the Princess Charlotte and settled down in Blackheath, near London, to complete a book on which he had clearly been working for many years.

It carried the snappy title “Naval Discipline. Subordination contrasted with insubordination; or, a view of the necessity for passing a law establishing an efficient naval discipline on board ships in the Merchant-Service; comprising a valuable record of occurrences on board various ships; evincing the advantages arising from good order on the one hand, and the disasters attending the want of it on the other.”

In spite of its title it is a fascinating book (available to read online) which focused on the very real challenges of managing a diverse crew, passengers and (often) soldiers on a long taxing voyage on a tiny ship. He seems to have solicited stories from fellow Indiaman captains and the result is a kaleidoscope of dismal tales of drunkenness, insubordination, insolence, theft, murder and what we would now call mental health issues against a background of storms, dangerous reefs, men falling overboard, hostile ships, navigational errors and shipwrecks.

His theme was that if you treat people with respect they will not abuse your trust. “I have had fancy balls, transparencies, plays, &c. in commemoration of those glorious days, and of the coronation, the birth-day of our gracious Sovereign, &c. and in no one instance has this indulgence been abused, or the duty of the ship neglected. I have frequently allowed seamen to dance on the lee-side of the quarter-deck. None of these trespasses upon the over rigid system of discipline have ever produced the least source of annoyance, knowing, as I trust I always did, where to draw the line, where to stop” (p.170).

He disapproved of flogging but reluctantly thought it needed to be retained as an ultimate sanction. “Flogging should only be resorted to when all other modes of punishment fail, or the offence is of such a magnitude that no doubt can remain in the mind of the captain and his officers of the offender being a fit object to receive so exemplary a punishment. The more I consider and reflect on the subject, the more fixed is the conviction on my own mind that it will be unwise and unsafe to deprive the commander of so necessary a power of control” (p.175).

Biden had married Harriott Freeth in his native Derbyshire (unlike many of his colleagues who were Scottish, the Bidens were from England) in 1819 and had a son and two daughters. Perhaps Biden felt he was too young to retire aged 41. So he bought a Chittagong-built teak ship of 712 tons, the Victory and sailed her on two trips to Colombo and Bombay in 1832 and 1834. On the second trip he discovered Nelson Island in the Chagos Archipelago.

We do not know how financially successful the Victory venture proved; but it was innately hazardous to own a ship without sharing the risk with other investors. He may have lost money which was why in 1839 he set off to India aboard the Marquis Camden with his wife and daughter to become Master Attendant and Marine Storekeeper at Madras; in charge of shipping. On the voyage to India his daughter died and was doubtless buried at sea.

During his 19 years in Madras Biden gained a reputation for diligence; for example placing lights along the coast to prevent maritime disasters. He was highly imaginative; constantly suggesting improvements for maritime safety. He was also actively involved in charities for widows and orphans of mariners of all nationalities including Indians.

His son, Horatio, joined him in Madras in 1846 and went on to become a Colonel in the Madras Artillery. There were also a few other Bidens in India; one of whom was headmaster of La Martiniere College in Calcutta (Kolkata).

In 1858 Christopher Biden died in Madras and is commemorated by a plaque in the Cathedral there. Apart from the memorial tablet in the Cathedral there is also a portrait of Biden by George Chinnery seated with his dog, Hector. His wife Harriott lived on in London until 1880. Some of her papers are kept at Cambridge University and testify to her husband’s kindness and their mutual love. Nowhere is there mention of an Indian wife but Christopher seems the most likely candidate if Joe Biden indeed had an ancestor in India.

One thing I have seen in life is when you ideologically want to take on something, you have to go offensive from the get go. I have seen groups and countries do this, and I have seen individuals do this. For example, when US wants to pick a fight with some small hapless country in the mid east, they will exaggerate some wrong doing by that country as 'danger to human civilization' or 'danger to western universalism' or crap like that and make the country look evil.

Likewise, what the BIF ecosystem has very effectively done is demonize ModiJi and BJP from the get go. I mean ideologically, BIF hates Hinduism, and are determined to NOT now allow Hindutva as a permanent political movement that unites Hindus across India. This has been their single point agenda. So from the day ModiJi was sworn in office in 2014, they went on the offensive picking any dog bone, starting with fake Church attacks to cement their narrative.

Likewise on press freedom and freedom of expression (FoE). Anybody objective can see the bile, vitriol, scorn, hate, and fake news that outlets like Undy, Indian Express, wire, you name it have spewed on ModiJi and BJP. So to claim that there has been any curbs on FoE is laughable.

However, in genuine case where there is clear sedition type activity, like so called journalists in J&K peddling Paki propaganda, or Islamist journos from Kerala spreading hate against UP govt (YogiJi), or Umar Khalid and other Urban Naxal scum etc; BJP govt has cracked down. By any nationalist standard, this should pass.

But what the BIF has done is stretch the definition of FoE and free press to use these cases as ModiJi's attack on FoE, and they shamelessly justify the assault on Arnab as this Bimbo Tavleen Singh does in her latest column (and I have seen the same arguments repeated by Turdesai and other Lutyen anchors):

https://indianexpress.com/article/opini ... h-7001283/

Hate to speculate guys, but I get the chilling feeling that Arnab may not come out alive. And if the eerie silence that we are seeing now is any indication, I don't believe the Pappu sena, nor Pappu, not Antonio Maino, nor the entire Lutyen BIF ecosystem that are willing collaborators in this evil will pay any price nor will there by any outcry.

Anything happens to Arnab, BJP is finished IMO.

I think that Uddhav Thackeray has seen the writing on the wall. With the overwhelming support nationwide for Modi and Shah especially after Ayodhya and striking Pakistan, the relevance of his Maratha party has increasingly become unstable. After that more Maratha politicians joining the BJP has led to him, I feel leading to acts of desperation.

I’m not sure exactly what card Modi would play in this kind of situation. Relations between the BJP and Shiv Sena are increasingly strained. So much so that Uddhav jointed the Mahathugbandhan against Hindus. I think he recognizes this. Day after day Arnab has been challenging him on Republic media. He likely felt that his popularity numbers were plunging leading to this desperate act.
Of course, Modi/Shah cant send in central forces and declare an emergency. This during the pandemic time would only increase a crisis. It seems that there is no communication lines between Delhi and Mumbai at this stage. Hence they are trying to use the court system but unfortunately didn’t get this takes time.

I agree, let’s wait till 3 o’clock today to get some definitive answers. I feel that he should get bail, but then back that begs the question of how much he will really go after Uddhav again and how much protection does he really have?
Indians do have a short memory.

CRamS could you please decode the acronym BIF again?

Everything is in balance I feel. Of course, on the Western side they are far more news anchors as well as news channels that serve effectively for this kind of demonization. News channels in the Middle East will demonize Macron and we try to do the same for the Muslim world.
Only question is how can we increase the presence for newsreaders in India. I think what we have seen is that Western world is slowly coming to terms especially after repeated attacks on them at this stage.

Nobody cared when Hindus were dying en masse but now that your French and other Europeans cant sit down for their daily bread and wine without someone raising the Allah o Akbar Bedouin death cry, the world is taking notice.
This time I think for us to capitalize not just around the world but in India as well. Love Jihad increasingly becoming a concern and situations like this are not easily just passed off as Hindu fantasy.

I know that at India Aware we have been trying to really promote more pro Hindu stories as well as videos that really raise these type of opinions
