Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 2 (Mar 2018 - )
If you look at it the BIFs have actually succeeded in their plan to abuse the word bhakt by making even Indics use it non-nonchalantly now. I am known to bite people's heads off if they use that 'B' word in front of me. We need to stand up for ourselves. Black Americans call each other with the 'N'...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 2 (Mar 2018 - )
Here's something weird. I first saw a tweet by an RW that claimed NaMo govt has banned the import of Oxytocin because it is misused by human traffickers to make girls achieve puberty faster. Sounded a bit unbelievable. Hence I asked Google chacha. Found this Reuters (and assorted DDM) reports on the...

Yeah, India Today found Modi's claim about all villages electrified to be false and those unelectrified villages have to be Dalit ones.

Social media manipulation and trend management of Kathua incident Based on one of the comments in the blog, he may have got the causal incident wrong. He says the tweet storm started RaGa's Fast(-one) failed. One of the reader points out that the chargesheet was filed on April 9th. However, a "jour...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 2 (Mar 2018 - )
What is the deal with Tripura CM farting away despite Modi warning to BJP leaders to watch it? Not defending him, but we have to consider the possibility that the media is (forgive my gross expression) deliberately holding the microphone to amplify his farts. Many CMs have made silly/stupid stateme...

From the ground.. I was doubtful..but last few days it appears BJP is gaining edge, at least in North and NE Karnataka. RamMadhav has been assigned a few districts in this region. Similarly central BJP office bearers have been alloted districts. With such big wigs taking on responsibilities for few...

Delhi High Court Asks Centre If Any Study Was Carried Out To Determine If Capital Punishment Deters Rape MANY interesting things here: * PIL litigant is Madhu Kishwar from the RW. Is this friendly fire against Modi or a sleight of hand? * Court seems more miffed about "no discretion to award less t...

Utterly pukeworthy article in my Google feed. USA Today article on Indian Dalits' plight where they are being killed for aspiring to ride a horse during their own wedding ceremonies. Apparently, the April 2nd protests we're for restoring their rights for basic needs like these. BIF have zeroe...

They are on the backfoot, and frankly this is surprising ....who are they trying to protect? Isn't it obvious? If the law is gender neutral and marriage agnostic, the two global religions where child marriage and child abuse are rampant would be affected disproportionately. This is a masterstroke b...

Higher fuel prices when sustained will lead to inflation. Who does that affect the most? The poor of course. Petrol/Diesel prices are one of the several inputs into the price index of commodities. There are many levers the GoI can pull to keep inflation down outside of fuel prices. The price spread...

Those of you old enough (and are willing to admit it) to remember the last few years of the other RaGa (Rajiv) are sure to have fond/romantic memories of Panchayat Raj. Modi needs to focus on getting fuel prices down. It'll be the next battlecry for congoons Respectfully disagree, Saar. Please see the Swarajya article on Ujwala Yojana. Import bill is going up because of increased import of LNG - proof that UY is a real success and not just hot gas, pun intended. W...

I see a lot of heartburn and burnol frustration on SM that this was a scripted town-hall meeting and audience was handpicked and questions vetted. Here's the counterpoint. NDTV is by far the most accessible (and "credible") desi channel in the West. NDTV carries the worst possible propagandu agains...

Looks like the campaign for 2019 may have started. I think the damage is real and substantial. The Unnao and Kathua cases have created a deep belief in (at least South) Indian women that BJP is protecting the culprits because of religion.

I have recently seen people from RoL in TN show more hope that a 3rd alternative is coming up and Acche Din will soon be here. They weren't talking about who this 3rd alternative though. After much persuasion, one of them let go in a WhatsApp group that it is Sebastian Simon aka Seeman. "He is one a...
