Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Really? How is this supposed to work? Are Generals and Admirals going out to die so that their children are getting an education? This is funding for martyrs's children. The children of people who went out to die so the rest of us don't have to. First, sorry, I overlooked the part where it said the...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
yeah...especially when they teach 3k > 10k I'll ignore the smart@ss personal comment. Since you lack common sense, let me elaborate. My point was that if a playschool charges 3k per month for nothing but playing with 1 year olds for 3-4 hours a day, fee for higher grades are much much higher. 10k a...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
SSundar, don't know how old you are. I am old enough to remember mid-late 80s and early 90s. Those were dark days. Kashmir and punjab burning, mandal changed the face of politics, those self immolation of frustrated youths, mumbai ruled by mafia, riots and 92 bomb blasts, smugglers running unabated...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
I am not discrediting modi by saying pvnr has done more good to this country. What PVNR has achieved under his leadership is monumental and way difficult to achieve by his successors. So yes lets stop comparison but lets not pretend modi has done better. I fully support PM Modi... and I also fully ...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Very timely article by R. Jagannathan. As Congress Woos Hindu Vote, Will BJP Head For Bankrupt Pseudo-Secular Politics? I think the BJP does need to increase reaching out to EJs and Peacefuls but not in the soft, defensive tone it is taking now. NaMo should come out hitting hard, clearly stating tha...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
What a tragedy. After thousands of years of culture there is no place on earth for hindus to practice our culture unapologetically without someone calling us communal and oppress our freedom under the name of secularism. We want to live in a land where the government promotes culture of this land, ...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
JihadiDi showing class, even if inadvertantly. There are those who might say this is "Indian" class, often with good reason, unfortunately. :( A London hotel I stayed in during a business trip sent me a revised bill adding upwards of 20 pounds a few days after I checked out. They said I took some f...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Chetak saar, nothing of those words is applicable to modi. His cabinet is full of people who suck upto or are hand in gloves with all NGO/BIF/Media etc. I personally feel terribly betrayed, but looking at twitter, I don't think I am the only person to feel so. Can't say there aren't many disappoint...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Sundar, I disagree. BJP is any day much much more inclusive than the motley combination of elite western wannabes (tell me will one of those elites preaching to BJP about Dalit rights and Brahminism leave their Lutyen luxury abodes and come within one mile of Dalits?), jihadis, and "intellectual" D...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
BJP made a Dalit the President of India. But they cannot seem to get a strong and visible face as a Central Minister or Party functionary to show their own inclusiveness. This is a major weakness.

Indian Railways apparently painted two TN stations with heritage paintings - Velankanni (with Christian significance) and Kanchipuram (Hindu symbolism). Within days, several "Dalit" organizations converged on the Kanchipuram station and vandalized the paintings of Hindu saints with slogans asking fo...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
That article had a very sophomoric feel to it. Beginning of the end? Swarajya comes straight out to declare that the odds are against Modi in 2019. Its the economy, stupid, and all that. Ostensibly. Only. The Economy, Stupid: Why The NDA Faces A Rocky Road To Re-Election (Swarajya) Classic case of ...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
This is a dead give away from Pappu on who was behind this circus. And unusually harsh rhetoric too. This is where BJP might lose the plot. I will puke my gut out if in the TV 'debates' to follow, BJP spokesman are defensive. Instead go on the offensive and attack Pappu. I would say they should eve...

Looks like Ranji will join politics and contest all 234 assembly seats. Rajanikanth in person can may be contest an all 234 seats, but if he wins in any of them then there has to be re-elections on all the other 233 seats. Or else, he would have to identify winnable candidates (who also would stand...

Looks like Ranji will join politics and contest all 234 assembly seats. I suspect he will win big because people are sick of *DMK parties. I also suspect modi couldn’t convince him to join BJP ... I just hope he will join NDA though Make no mistake. This is very much a Modi play. BJP in TN oscillat...

I believe the Fadnavis couple's goose is cooked. They just don't know it yet. OMG, this is too important to be covered in 2 sentences.. eloborate, No? :) I am not claiming any chaiwala connection. We have consistently seen MAD jettison Chief Ministers when they become more of a liability to the par...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
I think we are conflating different things here. TN people's participation in religious activities is not lessening. Even the nominal ones in rural areas make sure they support their family deities and local temples. The urban ones that now have gotten past the lower maslow priorities are now patro...
