Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

People expected miracles from Modi. He did deliver way more than anybody else could have in the time he had, despite the intense opposition he faced. If you look at most metrics, he has indeed achieved major growth in several areas. The states run by the BJP have also prospered. Yet, the lament goes...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

So till now, What we have learnt on this forum is: 1. If you don't vote for BJP, you are a closet Congressi and worse even a Non-Hindu In 2018, yes you are. 2. BJP lost 3 states, Damn!! Restrict voting rights to only Tax payers This is nonsense. A small minority may feel that, and they are entitled...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

I agree, restricting voting rights based on gender/religion/income/etc is a very slippery slope and IMHO deeply unethical. What can and possibly should be done is to Incentivize people to be a more productive part of society, while discouraging overbreeding (for whatever reason). Thus, a lower incom...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

This is the essence of INC thinking, no wonder they have ruled for soo long https://www.deccanchronicle.com/nation/current-affairs/141218/not-a-setback-as-issue-still-live-in-peoples-court-cong-on-sc-ve.html Senior party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the clean chit to Modi government is not...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

There is way too much dhoti-shiver going on here folks. Yes, it is a setback, but it is not the end of the world. We need to have faith and believe that the leadership is savvy enough to make the necessary changes. The cadres are driven by ideology and not by fake promises of loot.

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

There is such a narrow margin of loss in RJ and MP for the BJP that one wonders what if? If you go to the EC site, the NOTA numbers are very significant. RJ first: INC votes: 1,393,5201 (39.3%) BJP votes: 1,375,7502 (38.8%) ---------------- Difference: 177,699 in favor of INC NOTA votes: 467,781 (1....

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

My fear is that there is possibly not enough time to make drastic changes that will woo the NOTA people and the urban voter. It may be a gamble, but an all out push for Hindu agendas may create the necessary spark, especially since that will bring out the true colors of RaGa and company. There is no...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

In MP, INC leads by 3 seats but overall vote share is about the same, with a slight edge to the BJP. They are both leading in 44 seats each at present. Does not look very good.

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

Farmers will soon realize that the Congoons are no better, worse because of their tendency to squeeze everything for profit. I am surprised that they don't see how much the infrastructure has improved under BJP - neem coated urea, electricity and water supply, easy farm to market options etc. Folks,...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

Agriculture production in MP has boomed and done well in CG, so IMHO that isn’t a factor. We need to see district voting results the states. Doesn't matter how much it has boomed, it is not keeping up pace with the rest of the economy. It never will. That is the reality of agriculture every where i...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

take away (biggest) is vikas doesn't get you votes. And that is so sad a commentary on the state of the voter in India. Anywhere else, 'it is the economy, stupid'. I am not sure stoking the fires of Hindu nationalism would have the desired effect either. RJB maybe a strong factor in the Hindi heart...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

Yes, it is a serious setback, but perhaps it could also be a wake-up call. Not enough time for 2019 elections, but some sort of adjustment needs to be made. Clearly Vikas or the economy does not work that much in India as it does in the West. People forget who brought them gas, electricity, toilets ...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

With all the Vikas over the past five years - see the Achievements thread on BRF - with electrification, sanitation, LPG, bank accounts etc in every home in the country, one would have thought the people would be fighting each other to vote for BJP. Looks like nothing matters as much as one's caste ...

^ Been following the 'debates' on various channels. The Congoons are really hurting and Burnol sales have gone through the roof. They do not seem to know how to counter this story. Primus Ji, Successful and famous celeberaties who are closet BRF Jingo's is very hard to find. Any wedding betwen 2 celeberities in India is a big deal for media and they are not going to let go of the oppurtunity to hype it. PS: Modiji also attended reception of Virat-Anushka in Delhi. PS to PS: Priyanka Chopra has been Miss World, had a successful Hindi Movie career, has done work in Holly...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

I think the biggest and most obvious number that is being overlooked by the naysayers is the actual amount in dollars being allocated to defense. I dare say that it has almost doubled in the past 5 yrs. If you also consider that a significant portion of that money was not actually spent, or spent in...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

There are a couple of other points to ponder. The GDP of the nation went up significantly between 2013 and 2017. The military expenditure did not go down as a percentage from 2016 to 2017, but actually increased, at least according to Western sources so much so that they lament India now being in th...

Here is a refreshing take on the 26/11 anniversary and the Kartarpur corridor from someone who usually talks very sensibly, and again does so this time as well.

Watch especially from 25:00 onwards and hear what Rizwan says about the present status.

There is no way we can dictate terms to the Pakis until we become militarily and economically as strong as China is. Which is when we can show the finger to the US or the Soviets. This is the unfortunate truth. Unlike the yahoos across the border, we can think rationally and while national interests...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

Don't mean to belittle the contribution of other groups, but I've always seen a Sikh as the poster-child of the Indian army and defender of the nation. It is thus very sad to now witness the shenanigans of Sidhu and Co. Regarding the squandered gains of the '65 and '71 wars, who knows what really ha...
