Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017

I dont understand all the angst about aadhaar. It is like a social security number (SSN) in the US. Without an SSN there is very little you can do except live under the radar like the illegal Mexicans do. Bringing India into the modern age is difficult as it is.....the least that educated people ca...

Re: Health and Fitness

Do you ever feel as if the scene in front of you, i.e. your visual field is 'pulsating' slightly? Also, do you feel your heartbeat, almost hearing it at as you lie in bed on your stomach with your head turned to one side so that your ear rests on the pillow? When you run or exercise, do you feel the...

Here in the US the X is available for order but delivery is 5-6 weeks. Anybody interested in iWatch3? I just ordered mine. Had long delayed getting one but have been using the iW2 for about six months now and it has changed my life. The big reason to upgrade for me is that the new version has an in...

2 years of pain is not a small thing. have you tried various types of shoes over this time or always sticking to your hiking shoes and leather shoes day to day ? shoes with less of heel-to-toe drop tend to put more stress on the achhilles tendon and back of the calf. a lot of ultra run oriented sho...

primus that was a good post! Don;t know how to say...long back in school days had crush on a lady momin, those days I was more secular than Javed Akhtar saab. Re: Social Media Thread

"Moderate Muslims" most of the time are just hiding their "peacefulness" for advantage. We will be idiots to accept them. We should not even be using this term 'Moderate Muslims'. It is an oxymoron. Anyone who isnt wahabi is simply not following Islam properly. Those who criticise ISIS as being uni...

Funnily enough milk (lactose?) intolerance and intolerance to "something in wheat products", may not be Gluten, are both rampant in India. It does not help that "wheat" is a useless term for Indians who use atta, maida and rava as different products. Patients here have to be told specifically to av...

^ Heh heh, LCL was once popular as soft-porn. Tiffany's is now considered a very racist movie by today's standards, Mickey Rooney's Japanese character is so abominable. Lighthearted romantic movies are so much more fun, I believe. "Across the Universe' was quite enjoyable but it is of course the mus...

Re: Media watch and Fake news

^ Expect the usual rona-dhona from this, but one thing will be clear to all. There is a real danger in the creation and promotion of fake news and sensationalism directed against the current regime or its defenders. Hitherto it was open season. This, if carried to its logical conclusion should give ...

Gluten and lactose intolerance is genetic in distribution, has nothing to do with exposure to allergens or clean/dirty environment. The most lactose tolerant people are Scandinavians. The darker the skin color the more likely one is to be lactose intolerant, that is the general distribution in the w...

I believe this disproportionate %involvement in such cases compared to actual % of population is a trend not only limited to India Very true. Denmark is one such country, France, US, most other Western nations suffer from the same malady. Apologists argue that it is because they get converted once ...

True. But asserting preference for non-halal meat is a low effort job with good gains. Hard to do that when almost every restaurant in the area (even one owned by a vegetarian Hindu friend and his Sikh partner) have signs saying 'Only Halal meat served here'. Since the Jewish practice is similar, M...

Most of those 2 dozen or so flavours at Parathewali gali are not very flavourful unfortunately imho. Its more of a tourist trap I feel. It looks like Varanasi. Are you sure it's Ayodhya?.
Yes, the second photo definitely looks like Benaras. I have a photo of the exact same spot taken from the river and it is definitely the same place.

Never been to Ayodhya, must put it on my bucket list now. Looks beautiful.

I saw WW with SHQ two days ago, she slept off towards the end :-(, thought it was a bit boring. I liked it, for its slow pace, good story line (for a super hero movie) and good period sets. Most of these movies are nothing but non-stop maniacal action which in the end makes no sense at all. DC's Sup...
