Re: Nukkad

A year has gone and there's a SC judge for the EJs (that's a victory for mcconnell really, but trump claims credit), there's tax cut for the rich (for the ultra rich donors of the party) and then there's some regulation repeals here and there like the personal mandate in healthcare and some stuff t...

I usually send cakes to my parents on their birthdays in India. I place the order from the US and someone delivers. I have been using Taj India http://www.tajonline.com/gifts-to-india/cakes-127/ The selection to Mysore is diminishing and now it is just down to 11 and I have used them all. Does anyo...

Yaar....No one cares about Trump and white Russian racists colluding. They deserve each other. As long as India’s interests are served is all that matters. Both Rethuglicans and Homocrats hate SDRE.

Rushdie is a piece of sh1t and has always used some public forum to trash India.

I understand that PNB has the most cases of fraud of any state bank in India. In 5 years 389 cases of fraud for a total over Rs. 65.2 billion. What’s going on? Time to privatize PNB and others who have lot’s of NPA.

Sachin Pilot is married to Sara Abdullah, daughter of Farooq Abdullah. It is likely he has secretly converted to Islam. He has two sons. Arhan and Vehan.

At this point I would call him as part of the BIF.

Rajasthan seems to flip-flop between BJP and INC. Vasundhara Raje Scindia seems to have local support, perhaps from some past royal families that have political influence much like former minister Jaswant Singh. I heard a rumor some time back that she's a heavy drinker.

^^ Aren't there WTO restrictions on blocking countries? If the US can fight India on solar panels, why couldn't the Chinese do the same w.r.t. US telecom policy? A 5G network built upon the need for national security and then spectrum leased to wireless carriers. I don't think there would be any WT...

Trump security team sees building U.S. 5G network as option

This is really unheard of in the US. Government building infrastructure that it controls? Presumably to lock out the Chicoms. If this is so, the contracts to US companies exclusively may be a boon.

MRC, The indirect tax figures came from ToI article, if you scroll up in the BRF thread, you can find the link I had posted earlier. From what I understood the 17.10 lakh-crore is everything except direct income tax. Some rough calculations. India uses 5 million barrels of oil a day. Assume half of ...

Growth fundamentally needs human capital . Given that, many different approaches can be pursued . Even without a security umbrella , just the development of a military industrial complex is economic activity that boosts GDP . We are still struggling with that , both the question of mastering techno...

Both Japan and SoKo had and have a security umbrella provided by the US and they don’t have vast unprotected borders like India. Food security was a priority after India’s independence and it had wars foisted upon it 15 years after independence. SoKo had a dictator, Park, who promoted industrial dev...

In the Bay Area they may not leave the state in hordes but will certainly move further to the east like we already see - to Dublin, Pleasanton and beyond. I don't think people will move out of CA in any significant numbers, but growth in population will reduce. Even though incomes are high in the B...

If you calculate it based on your lot size area, the property tax I pay is ~1.55/sq ft and schools are good here. My lot size is in the ball park you mentioned (< 0.5 acre). But here that would be misleading since property tax is a function of sale price (yeah yeah assessed value - all the assessor...

Raja-ji,

What is the property tax rate in the Bay Area in good school districts per sq. ft. on a typical city lot of 0.25 acre?

In low tax places in the US it is about $1.50/sq.ft. for good school districts.

It might also be a chicken and egg problem. Presumably with a higher quality of engineers entering these professions, the quality of goods being produced might increase, eventually leading to a higher demand for those goods. It will be really good to see some of this engineering talent being diverted to aerospace/defense, agriculture, civil engineering, and city planning. All areas that where we could do with more people, as opposed to just writing code tests. Yes, that would be ideal. The question is - is there enough...
