Re: Non-Indian Films discussion thread...

Speaking of movies that I did not understand as a kid but enjoyed greatly later - Dr. Zhivago was one. Yet to watch Dr. Zhivago. Both - The longest day and Dr. Z - were my dad's favorites. I saw TLD only after my dad passed away. B&W but as you say, did not understand why it was such a big deal for...

Re: Nukkad

Even in low or no income tax states, property taxes can be $3/sq. ft. You end up hitting the SALT limit of $10K quickly. We pay almost $10K as I have about 3640 sft and 1000 sft of finished basement for which I pay ~9800/PA property taxes. CA guys have it much better because they have much better l...

Oh man. No worries, if you're able to get it, I'll take it off you. Also, if someone else is returning anytime soon, do let me know, would be grateful. Cheers. Non-sale price is ~$300 per 8 TB. So I am not sure whether it is worth it at that price. Wouldn't you be able to get 2x4 TB in India for th...

Links shared with me:- https://www.akshayapatra.org/history https://www.akshayapatra.org/tmdonation Are these genuine? One of the main movers is Mohandas Pai (ex-CFO of Infosys). His tweets are pretty much Indic. They (I mean some akshayapatra sale/mktg. people) are somewhat left leaning but probab...

Re: Phone, Tablet & Gizmo Thread

There is no explicit download limit but I am sure they will throttle if one exceeds a certain amount or they detect torrent traffic. We have never faced issue with download speeds and I have the basic 25MBps connection - never felt the need to upgrade. I have 100 Mbps download. Not bad considering ...

Fruit’s FaceID uses structured light which is a old known technology used in the first generation Kinect (by the same guys who did Fruit’s camera) and their rear camera is still inferior to what GB’s top end camera phones used to have back in 2010 - 7 years ago. The camera hardware improvements now...

We don’t have cable or dish. All our TV watching is via the internets onlee. Among the mesh routers I found the ones from Eero to work the best and they have been working wonderfully for us with no complaints though their price is on the steeper side. Bought Google Mesh three points. One point on e...

Re: Non-Indian Films discussion thread...

My brain is as great as the movies I select. I wanted to watch D-Day but typed Normandy. Normandy is turning out to be a B-Grade movie.. Have you watched The Longest Day? That is a classic - B&W. ---- Opinions on "A Thin Red Line"? It came out at about the same time as Platoon and supposed to be be...

Re: Non-Indian Films discussion thread...

OK - that's a good list - should keep me going for a few weeks. Try Pleasant Ville. Not easy to categorize it. It is part in B&W then B&W and color mixed, and finally becomes fully color. The B&W to color transition is linked to the plot itself. Nicely done and quirky movie. It has one of my favori...

Supposedly Jumanji reboot is hilarious, light weight good-time movie. Not a great movie but good...suitable for almost the entire family (except for kids less than around 8 years old). No surprises that SW: TLJ is expecting a $200 Mil opening weekend BO. I watched the original. I liked it though it...

Mort ji, OCI is a privilege. You are free to not invest in Indian bonds until services improve. They should, but not at the cost of Indian citizens who subsidize these services.
So, some new Indian bonds are being offered? What is the coupon rate? Are they zero coupons? Thanks in advance.
