Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

Extending the same argument by AJAZ ASHRAF, Does that mean Muslims do not want to defend the nation hence not a single Muslim name in the list of martyr soldiers. Does the niggling suspicion in the mind of many people that Muslims have a skewed soft corner for Pakistan and hence aren't keen to join...

Hung out with my wife's extended Delhi based family over the New year holidays. They're AAP supporters but were saying they'll vote Modi in general election because the thought of RaGa as PM is "disgusting".

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

Bharotshontan ji, that is a terrible, terrible idea based on the very real grounds of sexism, 0.25 for girls, 0.75 for boys,0.5 for men/women; with the summation deciding a tier?? So, is a boys understanding so worthless, that it only reaches a value equal to the other gender when he reaches 18 or ...

I have proposed a tiered voting rights system such that the fewer number of children entitles one to higher number of votes, simultaneous with rewarding more girl children as well.

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - 3 (Oct 2018 - )

It is very absurd trying to use the logic that various deities may have Christian or Muslim devotees. How can one be a Christian/Muslim if they are being devotees of Hindu Devatas and Devis? Just a European or Arabic name at birth? We need to use this grey area to our advantage and explicitly "ghar ...

Crams My take is that the issue will resonate with the aam gay lesbian person, and in any given population it can be a good 4-5% naturally born. While poor class gays don't get affected by the British imposed law as much, many middle class etc gay men especially have been blackmailed and careers de...

There are poor under trial prisoners who are in remand, for more time than what an actual prison sentence for their offence/crime would give them. Is there any plan to ensure speedy justice for Indians, even if they are straight people? Basically our judiciary is a coward and likes to take the lowe...

I haven't watched sacred games, and don't plan on it either. I mistakenly ended up watching Ghoul.. Just total garbage. Shows peacefuls are segregated into little bantustans by big bad Hindus. At the core village levels people are very sure of caste and language and they really cannot fathom some supra-subregional identity as a "South" India. Yes maybe if you push them on the topic a villager in West Bengal may admit that an Oriya is closer than a Punjabi, but really what is the context? ...

^^^ 'son-of-India', it is not affluenza. I think there is an active effort to promote these types of feelings among certain peoples. It is easy enough to exploit sentiments arising from economic disparity....next, you add language to it, it becomes really potent (in India- state is roughly equivale...

Germany still has disparity from the western side relative to the ex-Soviet side. There is some wisdom in our leaders in...

Amount of friendly fire going on in this saffron on saffron is Paki-esque green on green style. Maybe Tharoor is on to something. Voted 2 option. All BJP had was a simple majority in LS. RS, Supreme Court, Lutyens media, simply too much inertia stacked against us. The tactic of reaching socio economic empowerment at the deepest individual level inside Bharat is the first building block and that is what BJP has delivered upon.

A big chunk of these rural Bangladeshi Muslims do traditionally have a formal Islamic name but go by what we would consider Hindu/secular/non-Arabic-Farsi derived names like an Abdul Haq might go by Montu amongst friends family and colleagues. Doubt it is a "taqiyya". Ghar wapsi should be kicked off...
