I have an old Canon A2E film camera - pretty advanced features. It is lying idle. What should I do with it going forward? I bought the body and lens/55 for nearly $850++

That camera has the Canon EF mount which is the current default standard on all Canon bodies.
There's no point of you keeping it, sell it for whatever you're able to get for it as well as the 18-55mm lens¿

The $850 would have been atleast a decade ago - I hope you redeemed its value in priceless pictures over the years. Irrespective, its time is up.

So India Today is using my rare photo of IndiGo's first ever A320 (which I posted on their 12th anniversary) without permission, they have conveniently cropped out my watermark and have credited IndiGo instead who had only reposted my photo with full & clear credits as well as original watermark.

https://www.indiatoday.in/lifestyle/tra ... 2018-08-21 [they have now replaced the image]

I sent them the following email after a few people whatsapped me the article's link recognising my photo on the same day the article was published.

to: support@indiatoday.in
date: 21 Aug 2018, 20:47
subject: Invoice for Unauthorised Photo Usage

Hello,

I see my photo of an Indigo Airbus A320 is being illegally used on your article: https://www.indiatoday.in/lifestyle/tra ... 2018-08-21

It is incorrectly credited to "Photo: Instagram/indigo.6e"
Indigo has merely reposted my photo with full & clear credits as well as my original watermark: https://www.instagram.com/p/BmD1d7ejvhG/

India Today or your rep have illegally cropped-out my watermark and shared it on your site, on a page full of multiple ads which generates revenue for you.

I am attaching my invoice for the above unauthorised and illegal usage of my hardwork. Do please revert at your earliest convenience about when I should expect my payment.

Regards - Vishal

Sun Temple, Modhera. Ethereal architecture, even 10 Taj Mahals can't beat. Built in 1026 by Bhim I of Chaulukya Dynasty to commemorate his victory against invading Mahmud Ghazni & 20,000 soldiers. Hence; a monument of undying courage, bravery & invincibility of Sanatani Warriors.

SaiK,

What is your budget?

It is less about the camera and more about the lenses. If you're invested in a particular lens system, then stick to it. To do this right you will have to spend nearly $5K on a camera body and lenses. You need wide angle, medium telephoto and zoom. Each of those lenses are around $1000 each and then about $2000 on the body. It isn't the camera system, but the subject and if you spend more on the camera, then you won't have money to travel to where you want to go.

Very nice, Sam Ji. My limited experience in Indian game reserves was pathetic to say the least. Well done. You could spend a week in a tiger sanctuary and not see a tiger, so I am told.

Awesome Photo. Love these ancient sculptures. What a rich architectural history we have, and so sad that most of it was eradicated by the Islamic Iconoclasts. When I went to Cambodia and saw the magnificent temples there, especially Angkor Wat, I was blown away. Had goose pimples for months afterwards whenever I thought of the vast tapestry of Hindu mythology adorning the walls of the temples there. Will post some images later. I kept thinking there is nothing of that sort left in India, the birthplace of the Dharma.

Thanks Primus.

Luck was on my side in spotting the Tiger. But, being in the jungle for the 1st time , I must say that its a place of pure bliss. will be returning for more in the future.

Sam (may I dispense with the Ji, if you don't mind), I understand completely where you are coming from. The first time I went to Africa was in 2007 and on my first game drive in Samburu, Kenya, I had an epiphany of sorts. I felt I always belonged there, even though my ancestors left Africa probably 90,000 years ago. Felt like I had come back and this was always my place. It took me another six years before I could return, but since then I have tried to go back at least once a year. Nothing beats being one with nature, and nothing comes close to it like the vast plains of the Masai Mara. Having said that, my brief stay and visit to Nagarhole two years ago was also very compelling, the moment you enter the jungle, you feel you are in a different place from the rest of humanity. Sadly, the game viewing was very disappointing.

I love the fifth photo you posted, the surreal vista of the river bank with the stumps of the trees just above the water, the B&W treatment is beautifully done. Elephants always look best in B&W and that is also a very nice photo. Very nice images. The tiger is a treat for sure, hard to see one so close in the wild.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing, please keep them coming. I will try to post some later myself.

I love wildlife in monochrome and especially elephants. However, sometimes you cannot do without color. Sunset/sunrise is also my favorite time because of the amazing silhouettes you can get. Having an elephant against a setting sun is one of the best experiences I have ever had. Here are a few examples of both.

Thanks for looking.
