I don't understand why EC has to wait 3 days to start the counting? First phase was finished more than 30 days back. None of the leaders are demanding improving the efficiency of whole process over years. I don't buy into EC excuse that there are 90 crore voters as they get 5 years to plan this. Ideally they could fix the dates of the LS election to 4 sundays of April. This will prevent loss of thousands of crores of productivity.

Karnataka meltdown: Congress leader Roshan Baig trains guns at Siddaramaiah, calls KC Venugopal a buffoon[/b

MAY 21, 2019

Senior Karnataka Congress leader Roshan Baig has triggered a new controversy after he hit out on the party in-charge KC Venugopal and called him a buffoon. Baig even levelled allegations that the portfolios in the Karnataka state assembly were ‘sold’. Training his guns on former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he said, “From day 1 Siddaramaiah said ‘I’m going to be CM’. You’ve gone to their doorstep to form govt!”

Roshan Baig, Congress when asked if Siddaramaiah is responsible for the collapse of the govt: KC Venugopal is a buffoon. I feel sorry for my leader Rahul Gandhi ji. Buffoons like Venugopal, the arrogant attitude of Siddaramaiah & the flop show of Gundu Rao…The result is this. https://t.co/WOxFkk9enD

— ANI (@ANI) May 21, 2019

The Exit Polls on Sunday, that painted a grim picture for the fortunes of the coalition government of JDS and Congress in the state of Karnataka, has finally brought the simmering discontent within the Congress party out in the open.

Calling the in-charge of Congress Karnataka, KC Venugopal a buffoon, Baig asserted that the arrogance of Siddaramiah and the “flop show” of the party president Gundu Rao is why people have been disenchanted with the coalition government in the state. Baig made the remarks in the reference to the exit poll results that forecasted BJP sweep in the state.

Baig also alleged that the portfolios in the Karnataka coalition government were sold. He further added that Kumaraswamy cannot be held responsible for the failure of the coalition government because he was not allowed to function. According to Baig Siddaramiah asserted to be the CM of the state since day 1 of the formation of the government.

Roshan Baig, Congress leader: No seats were given to Christians and only one seat was given to Muslims in Karnataka, they were ignored. I’m upset with this, we have been used. pic.twitter.com/RvJnia3gdV

— ANI (@ANI) May 21, 2019

Baig has been relentless in attacking the Congress leadership in Karnataka. He also said that he has been unhappy with the party as no seats were given to the Christians and only 1 seat was given to Muslims. Baig alleged that the interests of the minorities, in contrast to the promises made, were ignored and they were used only to garner votes.

The rift between the Congress and the JDS was widening as both parties tried to outdo the other for the struggle to grab power in the coalition government. The coalition was formed against the wishes of the grass-roots cadres of both the parties who had fought bitterly during the state elections. Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has expressed his laments many times over how he has been reduced to a clerk due to Congress interference in the governance.

Amidst the widening rift between the two parties, the forecast from the exit polls has delivered a body blow to the fate of the coalition government in the state. It is now widely speculated that if the exit polls turn out true, the coalition government in the state will collapse and many other disgruntled Congress leaders might come out to openly attack their state party leadership and switch over to the opposition.

EC process for EVM

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1130 ... 95808.html

1 .
Before EVM is put in to actual use at the polling station, the Presiding Officer Prepares the EVM for voting-at the Polling Stations - in the presence of the candidates or their election agents or their polling agents 😒
2. The Presiding Officer starts the preparations about an hour before the time fixed for commencement of the poll and polling agents are to be present at the polling station at that time🤔
The preparations, which are required to be made- I will explain in this thread -
3.
Before commencing the poll, Presiding officer have to satisfy not only himself but also all polling agents, who are present at the polling station, that the EVM and VVPAT are in perfect working condition & with Zero votes entered 😀
4.
For such satisfaction, Presiding Officer should first show -to all people present - that all counts have been set to ZERO by pressing the ‘Clear’ button on Control Unit 😃

After That ‘ Mock Poll ‘ is conducted in front of representatives of all parties 😌
5.
The mock poll is conducted by-polling agents voting at random for each of candidates.A total of at least 50votes🤔
At the end of Mock Poll -‘Close ‘ Button is pressed & Result is checked by all Polling Agents present -declaration is signed by them & recorded in PO diary 😀
6.
All slips from VVPAT are removed..which were generated during Mock Poll & Then Presiding Officer starts the process of Sealing the Control Unit as per procedure laid by @ECISVEEP😀

I repeat- it’s impossible to Tamper the EVMs or swap them in any Manner due to this process 🙏🏽
7.
All mock paper slips from VVPAT are removed by the Presiding Officer and the empty drop box verified by the Polling Agents.
The mock poll VVPAT paper slips, are stamped on their back side with rubber stamp having inscription “MOCK POLL SLIP”🤔
8.
After that - these mock poll VVPAT paper slips are kept in an envelope made of thick black paper and sealed with the seal of the Presiding Officer.
The envelope is signed by Presiding Officer & all poling Agents 😀
9. The number and name of the polling station, number and name of Assembly Constituency, date of poll and the words “VVPAT paper slips of Mock Poll” is written on the envelope.
10.
This envelope is kept in a plastic box for mock poll & sealed with a pink paper seal placed all around in such a manner that opening of box will require breaking of seal 🤓

The PO and Polling Agents Of all parties - must put their signatures on the pink paper seal too .
11.
In case of EVM malfunctioning later due to technical reasons- Whole Mock Poll precess is repeated before using the replacement EVM by Presiding Officer in front of Representatives of all political parties present in booth 😌
12.
After mock Poll is over and all Polling Agents are satisfied & signed the certificate-
Actual preparation of Control Unit starts 😀
13
I think.. I am becoming too technical 😂😂!!
Anyway - First a Green paper seal is placed ( it has a number ) , it’s signed by Presiding Officer & all Polling Agents presents & Sr. number Of Green Seal is noted by the Polling Agents !!
14.
PO has to keep account of Green seals - used , damaged /Returned .. in the form specifically prescribed for the purpose vide Item 10 of Part I of Form 17C appended to the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961.

Polling agents also have this record 🤔
15.
After sealing with Green paper seal -A - SPECIAL ADDRESS TAG - is attached which has signatures of Presiding Officer & again of all Polling Agents 😀.

The serial number of this Address tag is also given to Polling Agents Of the Parties 😎
To be Continued..... after a break 🙏🏽🙏🏽
16.
After Special Address tag is put - Outer covers of Control Unit having result section is sealed ( Using thread ) by Presiding Officer Using Election Commission Seal Which is provided to them & address tags with machine identity & booth numbers are attached 🤔
17.
Then an additional outer paper seal with a serial number is used for sealing “Result Section” of Control Unit completely with an Outer Paper Strip Seal, so that this portion of Control Unit cannot be tampered in any Manner. This seal is also signed by Polling Agents & PO😠
18.
AllControl Unit are secured and sealed from outside completely with the ‘strip paper seal ‘ so that this section cannot be opened without damaging the strip seal 😀!!

This seal is too signed by all Polling Agents & Presiding Officer 🤓
19.
Special training is conducted by @ECISVEEP for Polling Staff & Presiding Officers 🙏🏽

I repeat - it’s absolutely impossible to change or swap or Tamper the EVMs at any stage of Poll Process 😎
20.
At the end of Poll - An “account of votes “recorded in the voting machine is prepared and a certified copy of Form 17 is given to each polling agent 🤔
21.
All EVM units are sealed & then resealed in outer boxes in front of polling agents & they are allowed to put signatures on all tags 🤔!

At the time of counting- The ‘Form 17 ‘ & all tag/Paper seal numbers are verified by the Agents Of Candidates -When EVMs are opened 🙏🏽#END

Hopefully there is sharp focus on who voted for whom for knowing and neutralizing post elections hedging to corner resources - by making exaggerated claims on either side - especially subset of same genepool (claiming to be legit minority or another); in order to trying to deny(primarily) or grab (specific) power in slice 'n dice moves.

First six months, Modi should focus on laying foundation for preserving cultural heritage and traditions. His first test will come up in Sabarimala issue and he won't have excuse as cong is also supporting it.
  • pass laws to protect Hindu traditions and temples
  • clean up the legal system of far left bias
He can delegate toilet building and other activities to his deputies

After election, Modi is repeating what he was doing in his first term, trying to impress western media and far left indian media by this stunt. Did he do the same in 2014 also?
I don't have much hope in any tough actions, will stick with less controversial toilet building etc

Guys, what an amazing fantastic election in the last week. So much data to process and emotions am sure are still running high for a lot of us. However the Western media damage control has released the usual suspects with regard to "Hindu nationalism" and "divider in chief" etc. in view of this I try to see if I can type up a quick article to refute some of the same old templated responses with regard to Modi.
Fight really goes on. Let me know what you guys think.

Why the West has got it all wrong about Modi.

https://www.india-aware.com/featured/wh ... bout-modi/
For decades now India has been a victim or state-sponsored terrorism across the border with international countries who themselves have launched preemptive strikes lecturing India exactly the opposite. India has been on the global terrorism index top 10 for at least the last seven years since it first came out with thousands dying directly or indirectly. After the gruesome terrorist attacks involving the Army, Modi finally took the call to preemptively strike at terror camps across the border. Unfortunately, this act of self-defense has been labeled as Hindu nationalism, because as far as the Western media can remember India has been better placed to lie down and die in a Gandhian way.
Another issue, which Modi seems to be targeted is really is approach to minority violence over the last five years. A lot of times journalists will really target the so-called lynchings, targeting the Muslim minority over the fact of “Cow lynchings”.
Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg. It hides a dirty fact where India being the country with the greatest crimes involving cattle smuggling. Many times, these lynchings seem to happen with two-way violence in an encounter a situation where “cattle smugglers” having being pushed to a wall and being caught, unleashed a barrage of gunfire on the crowd for which the crowd then reacts. None this is ever really reported as the danger it actually is involving the millions of dollars of illegal trade between India and Bangladesh that it involves.
Modi may be a great Orator, and he may speak to Hindus with nationalistic spirit. Five years ago, He came with one of the largest mandates that democratic India has ever seen. Five years on he has broken his own record, not by negative intentions of creating disharmony but on the back of his own will to see that the disenfranchised, downtrodden and poverty stricken have something greater to look forward to.

Fortunately, the Indian voter has been able to see the distinction. He is not colored by the smear of “Hindu Nationalism”

Muns ji, A write up on why Modi Ji will be focused on Development and would not take up religious issues like some people want him to. As much as we may want, he is not getting into fighting RTE, Free Temple, Art-370 explicitly. It may happen organically but I doubt if he is going to go legislative route anytime soon.

Guys, my thoughts on this proposal to have Hindi as third language in schools up to grade 8. As expected, the TN Dravidian politicians seem to have gone berserk at least on Twitter. While I don't have a problem with Hindi per se, but ModiJi should tread very carefully on this. I can easily see BIF using the hysteria of many Tamils towards Hindi to inflame separatist passions. The center should shelve this proposal.

3 language push will make bjp more unpopular in TN. Kerala already has 3 language from 5th. I studied Hindi in school but even then I cannot understand most of Modi's eloquent speeches. Because of immigrant workers from bengal/bihar, Hindi skills of mallus are improving because of the need to speak to them

Hi Vikas, thanks for the feedback. Sorry for being late as well but always trying to juggle multiple angles at once. I think when I was writing the above article it was really in response to a lot of Western articles, being Washington Post and New York Times responding specifically on the Hindu nationalism question. I did try to bring out the fact that through PM multiple yojanas however is the real reason that he was reelected and not for the fact of these fake news articles by rana ayyub and the like.
We have another five years to really take up some of these projects. To me as some of the members have pointed out to me, projects like Kashi Visvanath have been equally important. Pension scheme by Yogi to Pujaris has been equally important. Rebuilding of Kedarnath has also been equally important. The status of Modi at Pashupatinath again equally so. I think this list can go on. However, several good things will come to pass like article 370 with Amit Shah leading Home ministry.
Hopefully, we will contribute whatever we can if we are still around in 5 years. ( I mean India Aware)

CramS, I feel that the Tamil Nadu has long suffered from the propaganda as the reading instigated by Periyar. His ideology unfortunately has taken a firm root all over Tamil Nadu. One can only say how much of this twiterrati response is actually coming from Tamil Nadu and not from Pakistan, as previously seen in the #GobackhomeModi soundtrack. Swarajya had a pretty good analytical piece on this. We have previously tried to debunk Periyars legacy and will continue to do so. Unfortunately Tamil Nadu it seems really needs a Shock and Awe on its hindu Kings of Old Raja Raja Chola and the reinvigoration of a Pro Hindu movement all across Tamil Nadu.

Only a Pan Hindu movement across Tamil Nadu can really fight the legacy of Periyar. I for one cannot really understand the anti Hindi movement. I am Telugu, but understand the need for a link language not being English. Who cares if it is Hindi. I myself learned Hindi via Rosetta stone.
Desh first and regional bias after.

Muns, great insight. But lets not lose sight of a couple of issues at play here:

1. Every one of the f!king jokers from that Stalin puke to Thackaray in Maharashtra know that this was just a draft and there was nothing about Hindi imposition.

2. The issue the draft highlighted is that colonial facets still prevail in our education, and regional and vernacular languages ought to be propped. This should have been the discussion point.

3. Stalin fascist drunk in his sweeping victory wanted to seize the headlines and made this a Hindi imposition issue when there was nothing of the sort.

4. How ironic that a bloody anti-Brahmin, anti-Hindi, anti-North Indian break India scum bag like Stalin has the audacity to talk about 'pluralism', 'secularism' and such. And those Lutyen gangsters who pounce on BJP at the slightest perceived mis-step don't have the guts to call Stalin out on his and his party's bigotry.

5. And the dead give away by Stalin is his effusive slavery towards Italian Madam "annai" Sonia and his genuflecting before Pappu. I can bet you, Stalin will have no problem with Italian being taught in TN. His hatred is only towards Hindi and anything non Dravidian in India.

The Hindi taught in schools have actually NOT benefited me. It is too "artificial" and perhaps only used in very formal/official communication. The Hindi which was good for practical use; I picked it up from my NCC Drill Ustaads and watching TV programs in Doordarshan. The Hindi in school curriculum focuses too much on grammer, gender etc. And you are right; people would learn a langauge if they see a use of it in their daily lives. I had a manager from TN, who spoke fluent Hindi. He started his career in Tata Steel Plant at Bhilai before jumping ships to ITVity.

But to be frank, a thing I have observed among the migrant labour is that they too are quite stubborn in NOT picking up the local language. I used to travel by public transport and it was fun to watch the interaction between the migrant labour groups and the bus conductors of BMTC. Some of them did not even know how to tell the bus stops properly. There was also one BMTC conductor who was extremely rude to them, and for the slightest provocation he starts of with "B*** magane, S*** magane" etc.

Sachin, Not everyone has the capacity, inclination or incentive to pick up a new language. For example In Bangalore, lot of non-natives don't pick up Kannada because they can survive on English/Hindi sprinkled with a word here or there in Kannada.
I think we are fighting against basic human nature with Language. Moreover Bangalore is more cosmopolitan than most of the cities in India except for Mumbai.

PS: Why can't TN politicians also blame EI and WI on this language issue. What is this special "love affair" with NI :)
