Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017

Rahul Mehta's entire political and social media career is based on trivialisations. Unfortunately, his prolific posts on this forum mark it as a hub of trivialisation in the eyes of any first-time visitor. If the intention is to turn BGF into a forum that's read widely and taken seriously, the way ...

Re: Cricket

The guy coming to replace Parthiv is again another hanger-around. Dinesh Karthik has been in and out of the team since about 2006, do we have no one else?

I think for a lot of SW munnas, the benchmark has been set by the likes of WeWork. I have beer on tap available, part of my subscription. Very chalaak strategy!

Togadia has been out of favour for quite some time now, almost like Bannon being abandoned even by Breitbart faithful.

That is a whole lot of fear-mongering with regards to FRDI Bill. Many of the points you raise have been explained here: http://www.opindia.com/2017/12/banks-ca ... factcheck/

No, I was wondering the same, frequency has gone down, but that might also be due to many active posters not really migrating (yet).

Re: Indian IT Industry

I can personally attest to the Wipro BSc scheme. It was called WASE and had some of the best performers I had seen in Wipro , in my BU at the time (2006-2010) My cousin was at Vegetable Oil Co too, freshly out of his BSc in Physics from a small town college. This was around 1998/99, and then he lef...

Brilliant innings by Virat, but what were the rest of the guys doing? It looked like Ashwin and Ishant showed more intent and purpose than the rest of the much vaunted batsmen. And Pandya's runout, what an idiot!

Re: Cricket

I don't doubt it was genuine, one bad day, and the Bakis often have a tendency to raise their game unexpectedly in a series. A few things went against us that day, new mujahid Bumrah getting a wicket off a no-ball, their bowling suddenly finding a spring in their step, Kohli getting out cheap. If an...

Re: Cricket

That is the conventional wisdom, that they get quicker till about 25/26, then maintain for a few years, then steadily go down. Nagerkoti already has had a shoulder injury apparently, so very important to take care of these two. Two 145+ guys bowling, instead of these 130k trundlers will be such a be...

Nice, I hope they are tall.
No, they appear to be in the Stein mould, 5'9-5'11 range.

Pleasantly surprised to see two young fast bowlers bowlers in the U-19 world cup. "A clinical victory for India their first league game. India, after a stroke of luck in the form of a no-ball dismissal, got off to a great start and put on 180 for the first wicket. The openers missed out on hundreds,...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017

I agree - some of us just don't understand the gravity of the situation. Congoons, over 60-odd years have developed such power, that the pull the strings even when they don't have electoral power. Case in point - Supreme Court judges. And think about the lakhs of government employees, a huge percent...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017

'Secular' was obviously introduced due the the Nehruvian influence, who in turn picked it up from Europe. There is a different connotation to 'secular' in Europe, and as it is understood by many in India. To many Indians, secular is fair and equal treatment of all religious groups (धर्म निष्पक्ष). N...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017

The thing about shlokas is that it's not merely religious, its also cultural and historic. Hence the bhoomi poojan when digging the foundation of a government building, or Ganesh pooja before launching a rocket. It is very much rooted in the history and culture of the land, and Hindus cannot and mus...

It might also be a chicken and egg problem. Presumably with a higher quality of engineers entering these professions, the quality of goods being produced might increase, eventually leading to a higher demand for those goods. I am hopeful especially due to the private sector entering the nascent MIC ...

It will be really good to see some of this engineering talent being diverted to aerospace/defense, agriculture, civil engineering, and city planning. All areas that where we could do with more people, as opposed to just writing code tests.
